Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

Yeah, that was on the news yesterday (at least the time that I saw it). Sure would suck to be that guy. Glad he's out though.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

"Wrong turn" mmm..hmmm..

Sounds more like a cover story for Fast and Furious Part II. LOL

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

I can't believe this guy was locked up for 7 months, what a shame. Hope all is well with him and his family.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

What do you expect from the most corrupt country in the world. Living so close to Mexico I will never cross that border again.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

How, exactly, does one make a wrong turn and simply 'end-up' in Mexico?

Here at the San Diego entry into Mexico it is the main highway that ends at the border. There is a lot of retail outlets at the last exit. It doesn't choke down to a couple of lanes like you think it should so you get the idea there is still a couple exits left before you are at the border. If you don't hit that last exit you are screwed and you have not choice but to go into mexico. The gaurds at the gate are Mexican police so they will not help you and bam your in Mehico.

The story actually gives you a pretty reasonable explanation. The seven months in jail is where I have a problem putting this together.

"then a right turn at La Jolla" Hahaha

There was a time when we might laugh at the possibility that this was a government operation gone wrong but now not so far fetched.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

I lived in Mexico for a year, in total, and my take on this is that they were trying to get his company to pony up with a healthy bribe. The original article state that the Police stated the ammo was found hidden under the floorboards. However the Mexico customs agents said no, it was on the delivery pallets.

I have seen this before, to someone I personally knew. They kept her in a Mexican jail in La Paz for six months on a phony charge, hoping the pretty blond woman's family would pay a $50,000 bribe. Her family never did, and the local Mexican police gave up. She then left the country asap.

The poor citizens, they get hit with "the bite" on a regular basis. Baha California (Mexico) is quite safe. When I was in La Paz, the town was extremely safe. There was only one robber in the town, so you could walk around any time of night in safety. The robber was known to everyone, as he was the police chief's son. That's Mexico, lots of corruption.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

Just today!

The former mayor of a Mexican town -- who survived two earlier assassination attempts-- was found in a ditch, beaten to death. The body of 36-year-old Maria Santos Gorrostieta was found three days after her family reported her missing, according to a BBC report.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

What a wonderful country. Viva La Mexico. Where-else would anyone want to vacation, but to a Utopia such as that?

Sprekenzie Taco?

Seriously though, "the people" are being run (allegedly) because the gov't and the military are corrupt and autonomous. There is no viable way for the people to uprise, and straighten things out because personal firearms ownership is not a possibility there. Right?

Just look what everyone has to look forward to. We're giving this condition to our kids. Remember that. I'll step off my soapbox now.

And yes, I said 'allegedly' because I have never actually been to Mexico, nor do I ever intend to. About all that interests me, is their spicy cuisine. I happen to enjoy peppers.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

Actually I believe corruption in Mexico started with the Viceroy system, in the 1600's. Anyone who could afford it was able to buy a section of the country, and be his own king. He could do anything, he was the top ruler.

Parts of their navy are honest, and parts of the army are too. The police are the most corrupt, not sure how corrupt the Federal police are. There have been and still are lots of kidnappings for money. Often in Mexico City it is the police who do the kidnapping. One time local police in Mexico City kidnapped a group of undercover federal police, that was a mistake...

The police system has always been based on very little pay. The officers made their salary through bribes and corruption. That is how things have been set up there for decades, and with the narco dollars it is very easy to have corruption.

And where do the narco dollars come from? From us, so we can only gripe so much, we are part of the problem.

Ive driven alone all over Mexico, to even themost remote villages. Th only place Ive had any problem was in D.F. (Mexico City) I got stopped for driveing on the wrong day...you can only drive if your licsense plates have the right number to correspond with the proper day...So these two young bozos stopped me and took me to a dark area and asked for $100. I basically told them to fuck themselves. They turned around to talk and I was just about to snatch one of their pistols and take care of business when they turned around and said "OK, $20.00 and you can go. I paid them and got the hell out of there. Ill never go back to Mexico City. A massive shithole of poverty and suffering.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

Mexico has troubles, definitely. Have pity on the citizens. I spent much time in Baha, which was quite safe. Safer than the USA, without a doubt.

Re: Ammo truck makes wrong turn.

I remember treading water out in the ocean while the police rolled everyone on the beach in Puerto Vallarta when I was a young guy . Went down with a friend who had travelled the country extensively and when he said we should stay in the water I followed his lead . After a week there I swore I would never go back to that 3rd World craphole ever again .

Personally I enjoyed Canada a lot more . Clean well lit strip clubs with smoking hot women , lots of outdoor opportunities and most everyone spoke english .
