Has anybody seen these available anywhere? I can't find any info online and I can't find a single one for sale even on gunbroker. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not buying the one I saw at a gun show a few weeks ago.

Before anyone asks yes it was definitely a 16" barrel and yes it was 308 Winchester NOT 300BLK. it was marked .308 1:10" on the barrel and the box said AAC 16".

I have neither seen nor heard of a 16in platform although I would love to have one for the can would be a short slick setup. If anyone knows where I can find one let me know before I buy a BDL and get it cut and threaded.

I'm curious, how much were they asking for it?

would make a good brush gun for sure. i have the 20 inch version and wouldn't mind getting this as a dedicated hunting rig

Thanks, that is reasonable. I'm thinking this in a folding McCrees with a low profile scope like a NF compact 2.5-10 would be pretty slick.

Guessing remington is now using these or maybe there is a new rifle they've made. Probably just cheaper to do a rebarrel. They were on sale at one point for 225$. </div></div>

Or just get the 20" and cut it down and rethread.

This is a a rifle made this way to begin with.

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

I know where one is right now in NC. Sitting on shelf just begging me to buy it. The price is $699, but said he would take $20 off. It's a 16.5 though, and a Sports South Exclusive.

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

I've been waiting so long for something like this to come along!!! Very Nice Find!!! Going to snatch one up as soon as I find one!

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

very cool, just send it to SAC for a truing and drop in a manners with mini chassis, add a timney... DONE!

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

I've done a pretty thorough internet search and I can't find one in stock to save my life.

Those that were in stock at one point in time seemed to range in price from $650 - $825 with the bulk of the online vendors selling them in the $670 price range (give or take)

Nonetheless, I just don't see any vendors with anything in stock.

Can anyone confirm this is a firearm that Remington is still producing? I don't understand why it's in such short supply? Is the 16.5" barrel turning a lot of buyers off? ...seems to me like it would be an ideal brush/hunting gun which is what I'd be utilizing it for.

    Back to the search...

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

Looks to me that it's in limited supply because it JUST started showing up on the market and folks are buying them up.

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

Does it have the same absolute garbage Hogue O/M stock that the 20" came with?

Man what a pile that stock is.

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

does anybody know where i can pick one of these up....i cant seem to find one anywhere. i appreciate any help

I actually like the stock. Mine and the 7 or 8 others I've owned/shot seemed to work just fine out to the 1000 yard mark.

The 16" would be a sweet suppressor host if its priced around 500$

i personally didn't like the Hogue stock either. i shot my cousins when he had his on his rifle still and the front end flexed a lot when shooting from the prone with bipods. might be ok as a bench gun but i hate shooting from a bench so when i ordered my AAC i also ordered a new stock and immediately swapped it over before shooting. the Hogue stocks only sell for 50 bucks on ebay. enough to buy me a couple boxes of bullets at least lol.

I've spent the last couple of weeks solid searching the deepest darkest depths of the Internet and I can say with (somewhat)certainty that this rifle is sold out most everywhere. I [believe] to the best of my knowledge that it's also discontinued.

It is MODEL #85538. I verified that much with Remington and it's a model exclusive to the Sports South Louisiana distribution center. I've contacted them directly, as well. They're out of stock and "don't know if they'll be getting anymore in anytime soon" was the quote I got.

I'm at a point now where I think I'm simply going to need to obtain an original 700 SPS TACTICAL with the 20" barrel and have it customized with a shorter barrel.

    Re: R700 AAC-SD 16" 308

Also saw one of these factory 16" threaded rifles at a local area store.
Was wanting a 20" so passed on it. Think it was going for $695 or so.
