Hi all
Being using a small base die for a .308 with a tight chamber
heres some specs from the brass
new lapua fired/sized with normal die sb die
headspace= 1.618 1.615 1.620
shoulder dia= .450 .453 .450
base of body dia= .465 .469 .465
hs measured using the hornaday guage.
whilst this is not definitive it does show that tha sb die seems to be returning the fired cases back closer to factory spec than a stardard die, especially on the body dia.
It had been suggested that the sb die would reduce the case a lot smaller than factory, in this instance not the result i found, i would suggest that brass from unknown sources should be sized with a sb die.
dies used were redding body only ones
