Rifle Scopes S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

Hello All,

I'm new here and was looking for some help choosing the right mount for my new S&B PMII 5-25x56 scope. It is going on my LWRC REPR, which has a continuous rail, and I don't know if I need a cantilever mount or a regular mount.

I was leaning towards Spuhr but am open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
Rob

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

I'm picking up a LMT MWS and am planning on running a Spuhr with a USO 5-25x58. I can't tell you how it is since I don't have it yet. Based on all I've looked at, the Spuhr looks like the best quality and price for a one piece unit.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

I have a 5-25x56 S&B with Spuhr 20 MOA mount in my safe right now. Just waiting on the MWS to arrive next month.

They are both sitting in their boxes but let me know if there is anything you think I can tell you to help with your decision. I understand these scopes are designed for a steeper mount angle but my rifle is chambered in .308. I think 20 MOA will get me out as far as I can hope for and not be pushing the scope adjustments too far toward the limits at either my low end or high end expected shooting range.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

Thanks for the responses. I'll definitely take a close look at the Bobro mounts before I pull the trigger.

How do I know if I need a cantilever mount or not?

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

Monolithic rail system won't need one in my experience. You have tons of rail space to position the optic. No monolithic system gives you limited rail space hence having the mount cantilevering the mount forward. Hope that makes sense.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

It does. Thanks Chris!

That's what I was thinking, but I've also heard some people say that it's preferable to not have the mount cross over the 'break' in the rail as it can affect accuracy. The REPR rail is actually 3 pieces in a monolithic profile (to allow access to the piston), so that's the source of my hesitation.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

I have an AI mount with a 45 MOA base on my SR25 which fits just fine on my Premier 5-25. The reason I went with that because I get almost the full elevation. I prefer going to the Spuhr mount though with the 44.4 MOA cant. The spuhr mount is heavy though. A great alternative is the Larue LT112 mount

with a monolithic, i would go non cant....these are Larue quick release rings

</div></div> And with a 0moa cant, how much available elevation do you have on your DTA with what yard zero?

Re: S&B PMII 5-25x56 Mount Question

I'm guessing he meant 0 CANTILEVER not OMOA Cant.
