Dear Forum,

My normal gunsmith is being flaky because of his 9-5 is very busy and I need a gun finished!

Here is what I have and what I need final assembly on. Can anyone please point me in the right direction for anyone that has lots of experience with 700 actions and AICS platforms?

- AICS Dark Earth Non Folder
- Stiller Tac300 Action 700 Clone 300 winmag
- Hart Barrel (Unchambered, Unthreaded) Heavy Varmint, Helical Fluted
- NO TRIGGER PURCHASED, Want a jewell at 2/2.5
- No Brake Purchased yet, want a Holland.

I want the gun to have the machine work done and final assembly completed; ready for optics and ready to rock.

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Chris

Lots of good 'smiths here, but you may want to drop Dave Tooley (also his username here on the Hide) a line. Sounds like if you want someone with vast AICS experience he would fit the bill. He's one of Accuracy International's go-to guys.

Re: Need a Smith for an AICS!

He's closer to me than he is to you so not sure how that all works out for you but I mailed my rifle down to Darrell Holland and had him thread and install one of his brakes for me. You could call him about putting it all together for you. Could put getting the brake and getting it installed into a two birds one stone kinda thing.

I don’t normally pimp people out…BUT send it to Chad and be done with it…He just did a job for Genepool that I shot. Granted I’m a little better than him…but had 4 rounds same hole 100 yards…(yes he witnessed it) Chad just flat out makes rifles shoot….Long Rifle Inc, he’s on the board… It's shoots in the .1's

+1 and it's true what Avidflyer said(1).

I'm very happy with the rifle Mr. Dixon built. We sent him a stock R700 receiver (circa 1974), M24 contour Bartline barrel (11.25 R5), trigger, and NF 20MOA scope rail. I did the HSP stock work myself (cut and bedded for the oversized recoil lug). I praised Chad in
this thread. Send it to Chad and you'll be happy.

1. It was a hard thing for me to admit, but Avidflyer is a better shot than me. I've known him since 1986 and we've been competitive in just about everything we do, but at the Impact Training Facility (formerly Blackwater), he proved his capability by consistently hitting a 6 inch plate at 600 yds. in a 15 kt (gusting to 25) crosswind, lying prone in a puddle and a downpour that soaked us to the bone. He even hit the 4 inch plate a few times.
