Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

The guy that I shoot with has one on his armalite ar10t. We shoot out to 725 and it hasn't been an issue to run the turrets out to different yardages and maintain zero at the end of the day.

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

I am happy with mine!
Some time wish it had paralax adj as well, however the simplicity is what I like about it. I have used it up close and personal on hogs(to close for comfort), and shot steel out to 750m. It has been on both 5.56 and 7.62 ARs. It is one of my favorite all around.

Only gripe is on occasion while carrying for hunting, the turrets get bumped, and because they turn fairly easily combined with the the grippy knurling they get turned a couple clicks off zero. I just wrap some tape around them so that they don't catch on stuff as easily, seems to have taken care of that.

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

I am running a mil/mil version on my bolt 223. The only complaint is that it doesn't have PA. Tracking has been perfect. The reticle subtentions are also spot on with the turrets.

Sendero. I have one on that does double duty on my AR and my shotgun during deer season.

Pro's: size, magnification range, tracking, clarity, and amazing light gathering ability.

Cons. Only 2, No side Parallax and no FFP.

But.. If you wait, I hear there is a new model coming out at SHOT this year. A 2.5-10x32 that is FFP with side parallax.

I wish they had stuck with the 44 objective for light gathering but the new one could be a real winner with ffp and side parallax.

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

I purchased one for a 16.5 inch POF 308 and it is nice for the money. I was going to buy a Nightforce 2.5-10X32 but did not have the funds. I was very happy with it until I shot it side by side with another 308 AR with a Nightforce mounted. At 10 power at 200 yards I was unable to see the hits (on Shoot and See targets) with the Vortex. With the Nightforce the hits were easy to see! It tracks well and is repeatable but I am now waiting for a 2.5-10 Nightforce to become available from Sportoptics. I do not have a spotting scope yet so I rely upon the scope to see the hits. The Vortex simply does not help me in that respect.

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

To everyone whishing for the PA adjustment I have a quick question. From reading here on the hide it was my understanding that PA on a scope 10x and under was unnecessary and that many people were shooting with these scopes at extended ranges without any issues.

So other than not having that extra dial has anyone experenced actuall hardships in making a shot because no adjustment was present?

Again...

If you wait, there is a new model coming out at SHOT this year. A 2.5-10x32 that is FFP and supposed to have side parallax adjustments.
