Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

I looked at mine and its definately a dovetail. I have an aw with a pic rail and the edge is identical. Take the screws out and then heat it up with a heat gun and slide it right off. I dont know why they glue everything? The shear strength of multipe fastners is pretty strong.

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

There is a dovetail under the Picatinny rail on the AX308 but not the AX338. The AX308 action and firing train is the same as an AW308.
Well that is for now.......

Rich- you are crazy man, I would of loved to seen that

Tom -thanks for the clarification and teaser, what is the best way to remove the picatinny rail without damaging it?

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

I just can't imagine removing it! What purpose would it serve?

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

I want to remove it and run a dovetail 20MOA mount to get the scope closer to the rifle, I dont run night vision so I removed the front picatinny rail off the handguard. Since AI matched the height of the front rail to the scope rail, it is very high. When I use medium and even low rings the damn scope is still very high off the gun.

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

I'd just run up the adjustable comb on the stock, seems like the easiest solution.

Re: Actual dovetail under AX picatinny rail?

I want to do the same thing and just might. For now Im just using the victor spacer 7mm and its perfect. Im waiting for the new thumbhole skins to come out to get rid of the pistol grip.
