Rifle Scopes Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

ArmchairElite... are you a Sightron dealer or just a satisfied user???

I havent looked through many SIII's but to say its on par with NF glass is prety sensational.

I would go with the PST if i were looking for glas in that price range. but i am spoiled with my 2 NF NSX's

I wouldn't call comparing the glass to Nightforce glass "sensational" though. In fact it seems to be a pretty common opinion. Just type Sightron vs Nightforce into the Snipershide search engine and see all the "sensational" comparisons pop up(I like that word "sensational" It makes what I said sound so controversial and shocking

lol).

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

Some of made mentions about warranties being better than others, well I can tell you Vortex has the best warranty and customer service there is. The lady told me I could actually drop my scope from 30 feet and they would still replace it time and time again. I am not going to test that aspect of it but they were absolutely amazing when I had some problems with a Strike Fire.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

Vortex CS is top notch. They let me send back a cheaper scope and put the money towards a PST which at the time wasn't released so I went on the waiting list. When it was being sent out months later they called me to let me know it was going in the mail and that my Visa would be charged for the difference between the scope I sent back and the PST. If I was doing tactical shooting a Vortex Razor would be high on my list.

I don't know which SWFA you are considering at a $1000.00. The 5-20x50 can be bought used for $1100.00 to $1250.00 and is a tremendous value at that kind of money. Run a search and you will find a bunch of threads.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

I'm in the same boat as the OP. After research I think I may go with the viper HS LR with xlr retical.

My only worry is the avaliblity.

The Vortex CS is a huge seller for me.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

I went from the PST FPP to the Bushnell 3.5-21 G2dmr reticle.

Absolutely great scope and you can probably find it in the $1200 range new.

Not to knock on the PST's because they're great scopes and Vortex has superb customer service but I liked the glass quality and overall build on the G2 better. It was easier for me to get behind it (maybe my old eyes) and liked the xmas tree reticle.

Bushnell is also offering a 100% bullet proof money back guarantee so I figured I couldn't go wrong with it.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

I would say Vortex PST and the Bushnell. The Weaver is nice also I feel the others are nicer.

Here is a video we did on one of the Vortex PST.

It's not super high speed but if I were you I'd keep an eye out and see if I could snag a used S&B fixed 10x at that price, I've seen them once in a blue moon for around $1K. It will get you to 1000 and is optically far superior to anything else in that price range.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

I can't say anything about Bushnell's warranty because i have no personal experience with their warranty dept, but you will not find a better warranty and customer service than vortex. A buddy of mine left his pst on the toolbox of his truck on his way over to my place to mount it. Slid off into a busy intersection in town. Didn't realize it till he got to my house. He found the shade completely flattened, the box looked like a dog had chewed it up, and the caps were smashed into bits. The scope was fine even after getting run over. He emailed vortex about trying to buy some new stuff and what it would cost to send in the scope to get it checked out and they sent him all new accessories for the scope, offered to fix or replace the scope for free, and sent him a shirt. Oh, and they answered his email in less than 30 minutes. What more could you ever ask for? I have looked through his pst and it is nice. It isn't a nightforce but it also doesn't cost as much as a nightforce either. And for what it is worth, i picked up a 6-24 mil mil pst that i am waiting to try out because of his experience with them.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

That is the exact reason I want to get a vortex. Are they the best scope on the market NO. Are they the best for the money debateable. Do they have one of the best warrenties and CS, YES.

It's kind of like craftsman tools used to be. They are good enough for the money and get the job done but the fact that you can walk in say I did everything you told me not to and broke this wrench, ratchet, whatever and the salesguy says lets see if we have the replacment in stock.

Sorry to take from Hunter24 tread but after reading the posts in this thread I think most of the scopes are very close in feaures and optical clearity or at least some trade off of the two.

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

I also went with the 8-32x56 Sightron SIII with the MOA-2 reticle and 1/4 moa knobs

It shipped from opticsplanet.com for just around $950 and that price was including some Leupold PRW rings.

that is including a 5% off purchase coupon code you can google.

it also comes it 6-24 and a few other variable powers

overall it is nice glass for a good price.
The main reason i went with sightron is all the reviews on its repeatability. That was my biggest concern for this most recent scope purchase

Re: Good budget long range scope. $1000 under

Having a FFP reticle isn't a big deal to me so I'd just send the VX-3 to Leupold and get a new reticle and knobs installed.

Save a few bucks, buy some more ammo.

Not questioning your choice, but isn't the warranty on Vortex optics lifetime with (nearly) no questions asked? How is the Bushnell warranty better?
