Soooo... I have read that the glass on the PST 4-16 is not as good/clear as the 6-24. Is there really that much difference? I am getting ready to buy a scope for a hunting rig. I like the idea of the 4 power on the lower end vs. the 6. With that said is there much difference in the glass on the 2.5-10? I am really leaning towards the 4-16 but don't have one close by to look at for myself. For you guys that have seen both which would you get?

Re: Vortex optics

I had a 4-16 and the clarity was less i could tolerate so i sold it at a loss, they have alot of good features on the PST but the glass is lacking for me.

Re: Vortex optics

I personally liked the glass on the 6-24 better than the 4-16 but ultimately sold both and purchased a SS 5-20.

Re: Vortex optics

From what I understand, Vortex released some 4-16x's with sub-par glass, but that isn't the norm. Either way, I have no doubt Vortex would replace the scope free of charge if you didn't think the clarity was good enough. They replaced one of mine for that reason.

Re: Vortex optics

I'm sure the 4-16 would suit you just fine. Vortex is a great company.

Perhaps another option to consider would be the NF 2.5-10x32; a little more expensive and no FFP, but heard lots of good things

Re: Vortex optics

The difference in the glass was just barely, but I opted for the higher power for my target shooting. The 6X on the low end is just fine for hunting, and the clarity difference was enough to make my decision for me.

I absolutely love mine!!

Re: Vortex optics

I have both a 4/16 and a 6/24. I tried to take pictures to show this, but my camera fu is week.

From what I can tell the glass is pretty much identical. Not sure if this same thing applies to 2500k scopes, but here is my point.

From what I understand the sweet spot of all glass is through the middle power ranges. The middle of the 4/16 is 10x the glass is clear as you dial up towards its max 16 the glass is usable but not as clear as 4-12.x If you take the 6.24 you get the sweet spot around 16/20 so if you compare the 2 one at max power and one in its sweet spot. Its easy to see how people say the 6.24 has clearer glass, but when I dial them both up to max power the glass is almost identical.

That is just my .02 Any questions feel free to ask.
