I was looking for a soft sided rifle case for my 308. What I wanted was one that had a few pockets so I could keep magazines and a few boxes of FGMM, maybe my log book, but be sturdy enough that I would not break it in a single outing. Most important, I did not want to break the bank. I did not want "cheap", I wanted "inexpensive". I am not a sniper, and I do not pretend to be. I do like hard cases for long trips, but a trip to the local range does not require that kind of load. That, and I can load 99% of what I need at the range in my rifle bag and not need to drag more and more crap out to the range. I was looking to simplify a little.

I headed down to my local dealer, Grim Reaper Tactical, and hit them up with my wants/needs in a case. Zach told me he knew what would fit the bill, was under $100, and I would have one in a week. It did take two weeks, but I ordered the case the day before Sandy hit the East Coast. I understood the delay, and I was happy when my case showed up.

The case is sturdy, has a few more pockets than I need, but it had the pockets I did want.

The rifle case itself is fairly heavily padded and would easily survive a trip to the range or my favorite hunting grounds in the bed of my truck. There is plenty of padding to protect my glass and muzzle crown. Also included are small pockets at each end and velcro straps to secure the rifle.

Also included, but will likely never see use, is a set of back pack straps. I seem to have forgotten a picture of those though.

Zippers are heavy duty and each of the large storage areas (rifle and my data book area) has double ended zippers. I like this feature as I can set my zipper towards the muzzle end. This way, when i get to the range, I don't have to guess which end goes BOOM.

Overall, I give this case an 8 out of 10.

The only major downside to this case is the fact it is made in China. I may have considered another bag had I known, but I am pleased overall. I know this is a major turn off to some people, but reality is at this time that a lot of stuff is made over seas. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Re: Drago Gear 46" Single Gun Case

I bought a case for my rifle a few months back, and was looking for one to meet pretty much the same criteria as you. Wish I had seen this then, as I picked up one from bass pro: http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-1856-Collection-Rectangular-Rifle-Scope-Case/product/10216479/ . Overall it's not bad, but I really wish it had more pockets like the Drago. One plus is that it has held up much better than I expected a $50 case would. I think I'll have a go at the Drago to put my new rifle in though.

I wonder if these particular bags are made by a single manufacturer to the same specs, and then re-branded, as it looks pretty much just like a Voodoo Tactical bag, or whatever company you want to name.

Whatever the case, they seem more than adequate for some basic transportation and usage at a decent price.

Yeah... It's almost identical to my Condor case ('cept mines for a carbine)
