Im looking at getting one of these for my first ar build. I am selling my bushnell elite 10x and gonna try something different. Does anyone have any experience with this scope on a ar and what are your feelings on the scope?

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

I have one on an AR and like it a bunch. I also have a 1-4x M-223 so I am covered. The rings on the 2-8x are the Nikon single piece and they are rock solid. I have shot the 2-8x out to 300 yards with excellent results but that is about as far out as I have gotten. Last Sunday I removed the AR mount and installed the 2-8x in some new short rings and put the scope on a 308 Savage 10 FCP. The scope has worked well on two range trips on the 308.

I am looking for a 6-20x scope for the Savage now, and will put the 2-8x back on the AR.

i really want the bigger m223 i believe its a 3-12 but i just feel the 2-8 should work. Number one i only have a 100 yard range close and one thats 300 45min away so really there is no need to go beyond that.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

The only reason I'm going to a longer scope is for 500 yard F class match that I may try with the 308. I'll probably get to shoot the 308 at 300 again this weekend, so I'll let you know how that works out. I also like the Spot-On app for my iPhone from Nikon.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

Got one. It's OK. My only real complaint is how easily the turrets move. The touch required to move them is extremely light, and as a result they get bumped off zero a lot. Just a week ago, the windage knob got moved about a half a rotation. I had to guess which direction was back to zero and guessed wrong.

In addition, the amount of force to raise the cap to reset zero is also extremely light. That has happened at least once forcing me to go back and re- zero.

I have another scope on order, and I don't think I'll keep this one even as a spare.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

I have used the M-223 3-12 Rapid Action Turret many times and have found it to be very easy to use. I routinely shoot ammo that matches what is needed with this turret, 55 gr. 3240 fps MV. As somneone in their 50's I really appreciate the increased magnification.
Tim, as for hte turret issue, the M-223's made from 2012 on have more tension in both areas you described. I had a turret turn once while coyote hunting and the return to zero made it easy to reset.
I'm still hoping to get my hands on a M-223 4-16 and M-308 for my new LMT AR in .308.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

I tried out the 2-8 and didn't like it, I'd go with a 3-12 instead. The low end is almost the same but there's lots more on the top end and the scope seemed to be more clear to my eyes.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

I have an older 1-4x and yes my biggest complaint was the turrets turn too easy. I just got the new 3x and its night and day they increased the spring tension and problem solved. Go with the 3-12 if your going to shoot longer distances and don't require fast shots. The Nikon mount is a great combo. You will have a blast with the rapid action turret if you get a chance to shoot some steel. Ive used them several times out to 600yds and its pretty cool getting those first shot hits.

Re: nikon m223 2-8x32

I have the 3-12x on a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .223 and other than the max magnification being a little low for my old eyes at distance I'm very impressed with the clarity and brightness. I wish they made a M-223 in a 6-24x.

Der., The M-223 is out in 4-16, 2 version's. The Rapid Action Turret and the BDC reticle. I have used the MONARCH 4-16 BDC on one of my deer rifles with great success. Awesome being able to see animals thru a scope that you can't see with the naked eye during low light condition's.
I can't wait to get my hands on the M-308!
