Krag Christmas Present w/pictures

I managed to get a few pictures of my Krag Christmas Present before wife raps it.

Barrels great, action smoother then a prom queen's thighs and based on what I can find out from Joe Poyer's "The American Krag Rifle and Carbine" its all orginal.

Gonna pop a few rounds too before she gets it rapped.

Sweet christmas present right there. From the sight on yours it looks like a nice 1901 model. I love shooting mine and often find myself shooting it instead of my LTR.

Is that your first Krag?

Its my first Krag, been searching for a while but held off cause I don't want a junk or bubba-ed.

The GS owner didn't want to sell it, but was showing my wife what a Krag looked liked. She sweet talked him out of the gun.

It'll go with my 1917, 1903a1, Carbine, Garand, M1A, SP1 (M16a1) and my AR 'a2.

I have period bayonets for all of them, or will have, I have the Krag bayonet in route.

I kind of got hooked on US surplus rifles.

Man, that is quite a wife you have there to get you that kind of a Christmas gift! Lucky man. Rifle is beautiful!

You are a lucky guy... on both fronts. Nice Krag and wife who buys you a Krag for Christmas!

But there are other good ones out there. I got my Henry carbine last year for Christmas from my better half. Some women just know how to shop I guess!

Great collection, and me too regarding getting hooked on US Surplus rifles.

Just wait till you shoot that thing. If it shoots as nice as mine does you'll love it. Here's a nice set of instructions for bolt and complete rifle disassembly. One thing to watch out for is the hinge pin for the side magazine is very easy to bend so be careful about that.

The first center fire rifle I shot was my Dad's Krag, which was his Dad's before. I expect my older brother will inherit. A fine shooter.
