Does anyone know how many grooves are in the Noveske stainless steel barrels and are all the stainless steel barrels that he makes have the same amount of grooves? Are all 7 twist barrels identical except in length and contour? I am trying out a barrel for the first time on a build as i have heard great things about them of their quality and accuracy so i am thinking i may use another in a different length and contour for another build i am doing. I would like to get a AR blank from a quality barrel maker and have it turned and done to my specks but it just seems to be a hassle getting 1 and then all the shipping back and forth if you can just buy a high quality finished barrel ready to be dropped and fitted in to your bolt and be done with it. I wish a vendor or vendors would carry blanks for AR builds.

    Re: Noveske barrel question

    I don't know about Noveske.
Have you checked out Compass Lake? If I remember right they had Krieger and douglas barrels and can do custom profiles.
    Also check Bartlien or Rock.
Seekins has cut rifled AR barrels on their build your own upper page and I think you can buy just the barrel.

I think most of Noveske's barrels are polygonal. I could be wrong but I believe Pacnor does or did make them.

    Re: Noveske barrel question

I know of Compass Lake and Frank builds some super stuff. I have not been to his web page in a long time and until you mentioned it just about forgot about it. I will have to google it and save the page and check it out.

    Seekins:
I think i heard they are using Rock barrels, not sure? If they are i would think they are doing them for their upper builds only. If not then i would be a happy camper.

I have heard that but i was wondering about how many grooves their stainless barrels have and if they are all identical in the stainless 1s other than contour and length.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Turk</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I think most of Noveske's barrels are polygonal. Re: Noveske barrel question

Standard Noveske stainless barrels are 4 groove 1/7 polygonal twist and come in lightwieght and medium contours. He also makes a 20" medium contour 3 groove stainless thats called the medium varmit. I run a 16 and an 18 and I love them. 77gr ammo will get you a solid .5-.75 moa easy.

    Re: Noveske barrel question

Just received my latest Compass Lake barrel from Frank a couple weeks ago. Their website is a little cryptic about barrel contours. But basically for a $50 extra charge, he will turn one almost any way you want it. Regular contours are no extra charge. He stocks Kreiger and Douglas and has a new addition, Criterian barrels.
