What is your favorite way to prime? I currently use the arm and tubes for my rock chucker but I do not like the process. It frequently is not aligned or spits out two primers. I was thinking about buying a sinclair handheld primer tool.

Re: priming tools

I use the Sinclair. You get great feeling when you seat the primer. It take a little longer due to the fact you have to lock the case into the holder.
I would recommend you get the Sinclair shell holder for the cartridge you are priming.

Regards,Mike

Re: priming tools

i like the rcbs hand priming tool that came with my press

Re: priming tools

I hand prime. Just like the 'feel' better.

RCBS Universal Hand Priming tool is the only one you need for all calibers. 22 Hornet, 38 Super, 270 Weatherby, everything in between and beyond

I have and use the old Lee with the round lid. These are used for my highest volume calibers. One for small rifle 223 one for large rifle with 308 size bases.

Re: priming tools

I'm using RCBS hand prime for better feeling.

But will upgrade to Sinclair Priming as many recommend for better feeling or K&M Priming Tool w/Dial Gauge.

Re: priming tools

I swear I'm the only guy I know who prefers to prime on a press. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a retard....

Re: priming tools

I bought one of these from 21st Century Shooting.

Re: priming tools

Thanks AS,
I really don't get the Sinclair or other single feed primers either, the pic of 21st Century one with the tray would be ok, though I myself couldn't use thumb seater.
Picking up a primer with a tweaser and dropping it in a hole, then prime, I'd rather jack my brother off.

Re: priming tools

I don't like priming on a press. Much prefer the feel from a hand priming tool. I've used the RCBS tool since I started loading and really like it. I actually have two, great tool.

The Sinclair works great for me.
You can change the shell holder in a few seconds, but if you are switching from one primer size to the other you have to use an Allen wrench to remove and replace the ram assembly. It's not a big deal, but it takes a couple of minutes. I've got 2 of the tools set up so I can load for 4 different calibers without changing anything.
Dropping the individual primers into the hole is not a problem, even for my old fat fingers, and locking the case into the holder takes less than a 1/4 turn of the tool body. After the first few primers you don't even think about it any more.

I loaded several thousand rounds on the priming assembly on top of my Forster Co-ax presses. It was my favorite way to prime until I got the Sinclair tools.

Re: priming tools

I recently purchased a RCBS bench mounted priming tool after years of using the hand type. It is the shitz!

Easier on the hands and surprisingly it has pretty good feel when seating.

Milo: you're killing me, bro!

After watching the video at Sinclair, I'd rather have you jack my brother off too!

Hey Joe, I'd much rather you outsource that task to someone else.

Re: priming tools

Wore out three hand priming tools on pistols and rifles. Had three rifles custom barreled and had to get the RCBS bench mount tool because the hand tool left a primer tool high from time to time. The close tolerances wouldn't let it chamber. The bench mount tool is just as fast and does a more consistant job of seating,,,,and easy on your hands.

Re: priming tools

The only thing I think I will ever use is the rcbs universal handprimer. I love that thing. You can feel loose (kfa some federal) or tight (s&b) primer pockets
before its too late. And switching from large to small is a snap if you only have one tool.

Re: priming tools

My RCBS press has always served me well, but I don't like the primer tubes,I just load the primer one at a time.I now use the Sinclair tool.It is a quality, and pricey, tool with a great feel.I like hand priming because I can sit in front of the TV and be with the family. It is also more consistent. I have these as well. Great tool. Although I have been thinking about getting a Forster bench mount primer for a while now.

Nope, priming on my Forster Co-Ax. It's easy to get the primer seated exactly the same every time.

Re: priming tools

One more vote the RCBS priming tool. I used to use the arm on my rock chucker also until I seen the light. Joe
