I have read a lot of good things about them, so far i got a leupold mk4 8.5-25x50 illuminated and a surfire brake. i plan on getting a new stock and trigger next, does anyone have one of these rifles or know someone with one? im looking for any feedback thanks

Re: Remington 700 5R

Your google fu is weak grasshopper. Use the search function and get comfy. Lots of data on that rifle in here.

Welcome

Re: Remington 700 5R

I agree with the previous statement. I had one and it shot great out of the box and didn't require much break in. It has a very smooth action for being a production rifle.

Re: Remington 700 5R

Great accurate rifle out of the box with match ammo. Mine shot fed match around 1/2 moa without drinking a coffee in the morning. A bit on the heavier side if used mostly for hunting. The only weak link it comes with is the trigger.

There should really be a sticky on the 5R as it comes up so often.

Re: Remington 700 5R

I think we need a sticky about the 5R, lol

Send it back they shoot like crap!
They shoot 3 shot groups ok

Re: Remington 700 5R

My brother's shoots .5-.75 regularly and just under .5 when the stars are aligned! They are good rifles for the money.

My brother's 5R will shoot .5-.75 regularly with 168gr FGMM and a hair under .5 when the stars are all aligned! I think they are a good rifle for the money and a good way to get into shooting.

It would be nice, as doing a search brings up more noise than info.

Re: Remington 700 5R

The 5R is a great rifel, mine now is 5 years old with about 500 rounds down the tub.Just the other day I was able to shoot a 1/2" 5 shot group at 200 yards.Better yet it was a light load (43gn Varget ) under a 175gn SMK.Plus I haven't yet heard of one that hasn't been a shooter either with factory ammo or hand loaded ammo.Loading for one should be one of the best rifels to load for from all of the info here on the net.Hint the work has been done already just need to adjust one of the loads rather than work up one.

I second the sticky
