Anybody out there have any expeirence with Montana Gold bullets-pros and cons? I'm looking at getting a case of .40 155gr HP's...

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

I have had good accuracy with them. They seem to be pretty good for the price.. I personally wouldnt use them for SD/HD but for range and competition ammo, its hard to beat the price in my opinion. I have used the same bullets in my glock 23c and my glock 35.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

I have used the 165 HPs for plinking. They seemed to work just fine and I bought them back in 06, so the price per 1000 was really good. I don't think you will go wrong using them. As the above poster was saying, I probably would not use the for SD/HD because the Hollow points I had didn't seem to expand to well.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

Their bullets are good quality, and priced good. If you are just looking for plinking bullets, and don't mind a plated bullet, take a look at xtreme bullets. They are good quality and very reasonably priced.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

I bought a bunch of 9mm from a guy that are supposed to be Montana gold. So far so good.

They came in an unmarked cardboard box so I'm not certain what they actually are.

Look at precision delta before you spend any money. I've shot 1000s and 1000s.

100% good to go.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

We had the precision delta here on the patrol for our qualification rounds; but stopped using them due to several squib rounds--so be careful. Now we qualify with duty rounds only. I'm wanting a more economical alternative to XTP's...

Precision Delta loaded ammo, or their projectiles that someone else loaded?

I don't see how a bullet (not cartridge) could create a squib.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

It was their loaded ammo; I didn't know they had it where you could buy just the bullets...

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

I have loaded a few thousand 9mm and 45 and have had no problems at all. Have many more ready to go.

Ive used them in the only three competitions I have ever entered.
2 local idpa / one Survival Trial adventure race and placed second in every event using them. I see no reason to change.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

Since I found them the 155 over 6.2 of AA2 is all I've shot, I think I've run four cases so far through my 650..

At 11.5 cents ( I think that price is still sticking, for now) I cannot imagine anyone shooting anything else, and their customer service is second to none.

The only person I've found with a bad taste for Montana Gold's is my fat lazy ass mail carrier, he brought a box of 155's into the shop Monday and we thought we we're going to have to give him the AED or some O2 out of one of the torches so he could get back on his way.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

Bought a case of 180 gr a few months ago. Absolutely no complaints.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

I've been shooting their 200 and 230 gr .45s for roughly 10 years with no complaints. They can be pushed hard and shoot very well.

+1 if you are looking for a low velocity plinking bullet (max 900 fps), the plated bullets (Rainier, Berry) are a significant cost savings.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

Montana Gold Bullets are excellent and very accurate. And their prices include shipping to you.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

they make some damn good bullets, I have loaded and shot many many thousand of them in 9MM, 40 SW and 45 over the last 11 years without a single issue.
going to order a few more cases next year too by the way.

Re: Montana Gold bullets?

Another thumbs up for Montana Gold. That is all I shoot through my pistols and we use 9mm, .40 cal, .38/.357 and .45. I have some of thier .223/5.56 to try, just haven't loaded them yet. The more bulk you buy, the more you save! I always go in with some friends or family to buy multiple cases at a time.
