Hey guys,
Purchased the ultralight NF scope rings from Chris at sport optics (great guy to deal with). I know NF makes a torque wrench preset for 68 lbs for the bases, I was looking for scope mounting kit or torque wrench that would cover a wider range of uses other than the NF one, I've looked at weaver, and wheeler, wheeler only goes to 65 lbs, what do you all use? Any recommendations ?

Thanks

Re: Scope mounting tools?

Borka for sure! And it's not 65 inch lbs for the scope base, that's for the Crossbolt that tightens the ring itself to the scope base. The scope base screws that attach the base to the top of the rifle are 15-18 inch lbs. same for the ring screws on top.

Edit: Seekonk is good also, as well as pricier options like Snap On and other high end tool makers. But I truly believe the Borka is the best value and setup out there. It's also field expedient and stores nicely in my Triad Large Stock Pack.

Thanks guys. Sorry I meant the cross bolts, I'm still waiting for the scope to show hopefully It will have all the torque settings in the instructions.....

I doubt you'll find any torque settings with the scope.
You'll need to get those from the base and ring manufacturers.

^^^^Agree....I quoted Badgers Torque specs.

Re: Scope mounting tools?

+ 1 on the Borka and feeler gauges. You will find, BTW, that if you stack the gauges tight when you tighten the rings down it may be hard to slide them out. You can go a hair under and still use them to level the base of the scope to the rail. Just push down on the turret body while tightening one set of rings enough to keep the scope from rotating. Take the gauges out and do the other ring and tighten them all up to torque specs.
