twist rate for .260 140gr AE

I am looking to buy a AE from sporting services in the UK.
They deliver it with a .260 barrel but I am unsure of there twist rate.
Should i be looking for something like a 1/8,5?
I will be using mostly 140gr A-max

8.5 is good. i have had 260's and 6.5 creedmoor rifles in 8 twists and 8.5. work great with 140's.

i think if im not mistaken last time i talked to gap, they were doin 8.5 twists on 6.5cm and 260 as a standard.

should i go for a 24 or 26'' barrel if i go the custom route?

Either will work. My AW came with a 22" 1/8 twist 260 barrel on it.

Get an 8 twist if you think you might ever shoot 140 VLD's.

i am planning on taking it to 1.000yards.
I think I need 26'' but i have no experience with the 260, only the 6,5x55.

The .260 barrel I ordered is 26" and 1 in 8. I think you will be fine with 24" but you can always cut down to 24 can't add on if you want the extra 2".

My 260 barrel is 22" from the front of the lug, or 23" total. I'm getting 2785 FPS with 140 VLD's and RL22. I'm .6 grains under book max, and gained about 75 FPS as my barrel broke in. My buddy is getting 2675 FPS with a 20" barrel, 140's and RL17.... Both loads are supersonic past 1300 yards.
