I just got my barreld action from my smith. It is a trued Remington action with a new Bartlein barrel chambered in 338 RUM. I got it home and put it in my AICS 1.5 stock. Checked O.A.L from mag and loaded up a dummy round. The problem is the 338 RUM round will not fit in the A.C.I.S 338 Lapua mag. The strengthing rails are too narrow. Do I file them down or ??

Thanks in advance for the help!

You have to take a mill or grinder and mill them away so you have a sight window. Just did the same thing to my Accurate Mag extra long 3.885 in 300WM. I'm using 338 Ultra in a McRees stock. PS where ya at.

That is what I was thinking was going to have to be done. I tried the file method, might have one done in time for Christmas dinner! I am in Aurora Colorado.

Im also running the 338 RUM in AICS mags (McRees). With a little elbow grease & a good lot of patience, I was able to cut the dimples out with my dremel tool. Use the appropriate drill bit on either end of the dimple & punch a hole. I then layed out the lines I needed to cut with masking tape. Go slow & don't remove a whole lot of material with your first pass, you just need to make a cutting "guide" if you will. The thin cutting disks make short work of the thin metal of the AICS mags. Then slide one side of the cutting disk on the inside & remove the burs. Work like a dream.

PS- I only had to remove ONE of the dimples in my mag, I've fed over 300 rounds through the mag now with ZERO failures as the top cartridge is uneffected. I figure you still get a window but it minimized the area that can be exposed to all the shit floating around.

Just forward of the feed lips cut down 2.250" don't need to cut all the way down. Then cut the dimple away, easy and your done.
TJ: I'm getting ready to run the same setup what load you useing.
