I have one and absolutely love it. The only down side is that since it indexes on the shoulder of the sized case I have to ensure the shoulders are bumped back consistently. Sometimes that is easier said than done

After processing multiple thousands of pieces of brass with a hand cranked trimmer and then chamfering and deburring them with the hand tool, I tried one of the 3 way cutters and that seemed like a big step forward. I was quite content with that for a while until I had the opportunity to try both a Giraud and a Gracey trimmer.
In my opinion, the Giraud is currently better than anything else out there with the Gracey a lower cost option with near the same results at a lower price point. Either makes it easy to run through the trimmer every time you reload because it is just so fast. I can sustain trimming over a large amount of brass with no more than 5 seconds per piece including picking up, trimming and placing the finished brass in a bin. For someone who spends the effort to trim brass all of the time, this would probably give the most return of time for the investment you can make. As an example, I ran 1200 pieces of brass thru a Giraud last week in not much more than 90 minutes.
As insight pointed out, it does index off of the shoulder so if you have variations in your setbacks, you'll see those same variations in your overall length.

Order it from Creedmoor Sports, it will ship from Dougs shop, save the Sales Tax, also get some Forster\Hornady lock rings, makes the shell holder set n forget when you need to clean the shell holder or switch calibers.

I owned a Dillon and a Gracey and used then for about for ten years. I sold them both and got a Giraud about a year ago.
The Dillon was a good trimmer if you used it on a progressive press. Using it on a single stage required two steps, one to trim and then the cases had to be run through either a N/O or F/L die to deprime and to run the case necks through an expander or a mandrel. On a progressive press, you set the die stations to do this in one operation.
The Gracey is a good trimmer, also indexing off of the F/L sized shoulder like the Giraud. The downside I experienced with the Gracey was a motor with a bit less power than the Giraud and a pain to change the cutter to a different caliber. Giraud has a replacement cutter blade for the Gracey, which does work better than the original Gracey cutter, but it was still a pain to change settings.
Doug Giraud refined his current model into a work of art. The only downside is he doesn't supply the caseholders with a lockable ring. We all toss the original supplied lock ring and install a standard lockable die ring. The only other thing I've read is the original bearings in the cutter assembly may need to be replaced at some time with a higher quality bearing.
The Giraud is a great tool that is worth the cost and the tool retains a high resale value.

I have used one for several years. They do a great, consistent job quickly. Best piece of reloading gear I have.

Wouldnt be without my Giruad trimmer and annealer. spent this weekend annealing several thousand pcs of 6xc and 308 Win and am trimming the 6xc now. Takes a very tedious job and turns it into something my 11 yr old can just crank out. I used to toss 223 brass when it got to where it was too long as I refused to spend the time hand cranking the Wilson!
Get both machines, you will thank us after your first use of each.

I bought mine up front so I have never used anything else. I timed myself on my last batch of trimming 200 peices and it took about just over 30 min. This was with measuring every 8-15 and turning each case 3x in the trimmer. I'm very happy with it.

If you go at top speed, no goofin around, getting it done, you can do 410 pcs in 14 minutes, nonstop. Just did a 410 pc run of 6xc. Not sure anything is faster cept maybe that Dillon, but then it isnt doing inside and outside, etc.

Probably one of the BEST reloading tools you can buy ESPECIALLY if you are doing volume. Recently recieved mine and after lbs's of brass I was wondering why the heck I waited to get one. Order it now an do some sizing/cleaning. Once it arrives you can dig through that pile in no time an have it ready to go

if you have the funds, get one. its hands down the best trimmer you can get taking speed and accuracy into account. if you do get one, spend the extra money to get the new cutter head with the case holders as a set. It will GREATLY decrease the amount of new setup time you have to spend changing calibers.

You will see that Giraud is a favorite here.And yes I have one, and like it.I have timed myself,and usually do 13-15 .223 cases a minute.Sometimes you fumble one,or a case is longer that the others and you miss a beat,but one every 4 or 5 seconds is normal for me. I probably would not change the cutter to trim 20 cases,but the Giraud really shines when doing batches of 500 or more. I would buy it again! Lightman

The Giraud trimmer has been one of the best investment I made on my reloading bench for reloading large quantities of ammo, couldn't do without it.

I finally got in the queue and ordered one last week. The RCBS v2 powered trimmer is making me nuts. Doing it by hand is not acceptable given the number of different cartridges I need to trim.

Once you've used it for just a little bit, you'll immediately see why you can never find these things for sale used. Don't use it for all my calibers/cartridges, but for those that see high volume use every year, I wouldn't do without it.

I'd been using a Lyman manual trimmer and finally tired of that. I debated between getting either an RCBS power trim pro or the Giraud but chose the RCBS to save a few bucks. I had the Trim Pro for all of 6 weeks but after trimming a couple of thousand pcs during that time, I realized my mistake and I finally called Doug to order one in .223.
Although they are more expensive, I think they are well worth the money. I can't say anything about the Gracey as I've never used one but with the Giraud, you can blaze through 1,000 pcs of .223 in no time, especially compared to the other two I had.
Doug offers almost any caliber out there (I just got in a 300 AAC Blackout holder) and you can buy replacement cutters and heads. I didn't want to deal with having to swap cutter heads out so I went ahead and bought a 2nd trimmer set up for .30 cal
. I've had mine for a couple of years now and couldn't be happier.
FWIW, Doug doesn't have an online ordering setup. You have to call and place your order (you'll probably get his Wife).

Has anyone used the Sinclair Stainless Ultimate Trimmer? I'm sure the Giraud is an awesome trimmer, but $440 is a bit high for me right now. I'm currently using the RCBS manual case trimmer and having a hell of a time getting a consistent flat trim off it.

Yes,I have a Wilson,all tricked out by Sinclair.It is very precise,and easy to adjust.It seems like the cutter gets dull quicker than it should,and I bought the carbide one.It all works great,and there is even a power conversion for it.Now you're up to half the cost of a Giraud. Lightman
