Chaos: General James Mattis Announced As Next Commandant Of Marine Corps
9,293 | 14 AUGUST 2012 | BY PAUL

General Mattis Can Carry His Own Goddamned Pack, He Doesn’t Need Your Help
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a controversial move sure to send shockwaves throughout the Corps, President Obama announced today that Commandant of the Marine Corps General Jim Amos will soon be replaced by General James Mattis.

Amos indicated his plans to resign early — having served only two years out of the four-year term as Commandant — saying that “he’s getting too old for this shit.”

“I’m just sick of dealing with these savages in the press and in Congress. They keep asking me questions about snipers pissing on people, nazi flags, and other crap,” said Amos. “I figure Jim [Mattis] will certainly know how to handle them.”

Not one to mince words, General Mattis is known for controversial quotes — once telling a reporter that it was “fun to shoot some people,” and that his Marines should always “have a plan to kill everyone they meet.”

Mattis, who announced his plans for retirement months ago, is being recalled for the position as top commander at a time when the Marine Corps transitions from combat to peace.

“This transition stuff is all a bunch of crap,” said Mattis, after returning from a 30 mile ruck run with an 80-pound pack. ”Our Corps will always be killing people. Even in peace time, I’ll find someone for our boys to kill out there. Yeah, I’m talking to you Iran.”

When reached for further comment on his promotion, Mattis was glad that he would be staying in uniform.

“When I announced my retirement, it was at a time when death by PowerPoint was my entire day. I thought I had missed my chance for Commandant,” said Mattis, after spitting out his Red Man chew and downing a double-shot of Jack Daniels. “But now that I am receiving this promotion, it means most of my job is to visit our boys overseas — Afghanistan, Djibouti, Libya — and I can get closer to the action again.”

Mattis is excited that he can leave the briefing room to get back to “systematically tracking and killing the nation’s enemies with his bare hands,” but he also has other plans for sweeping changes across the Marine Corps.

“This policy that doesn’t allow sleeve tattoos is a bunch of horseshit,” said General Mattis, as he shows off his own full-sleeve tattoos running down both arms. “So that’s the first thing to go.”

Another policy change includes a change to physical training. While most infantry Marines can probably keep up with the General on runs, Mattis says that he wants everyone to live up to the ethos of “Every Marine a Rifleman.”

“These air wingers and admin folks think they are sitting pretty, only heading to the gym or not doing PT at all,” said Mattis, in between his third round of 350lb back squats. “So I’ll also be leading them in 15 mile runs until they shape up.”

Finally, Mattis says he’ll reverse the no-hazing policy that Marines have been under since the nineties, saying that it’s “good goddamn training.”

“Listen, I don’t like stupid shit,” said Mattis. “but if you’re one of my fine young men about to go on deployment and you have a boot who isn’t listening, I think it’s a valuable training tool to duct tape him to a bench, mentor on an emotional level with a wall-to-wall counseling session, or make him dig a hole to China.”

Mattis continued: “I mean hell, that’s where we’re going [China] eventually anyway. Might as well train like we fight.”

General Mattis is expected to take command at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

Thought for the OP: if you're going to lift an article in its entirety, give a link to where you got it.

Re: Great News for Marines

I laughed my ass off at the end.

" I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all. "

Re: Great News for Marines

I wish this was true. Gen. Mattis is a god among men. But it's a hoax.

Re: Great News for Marines

This seems too good to be true but something is going on. CentComm is being replaced and there will be changes coming. Cant imagine a sitting Commnadant giving up his post voluntarily unless there was a reason. I hadnt read Amos is going anywhere. Lets see what happens.

Holly Cow, you are correct, this is the Onion in uniform.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Tragedy and triumph describe the most bitter fought Army-Navy football battle in history yesterday, which resulted in victory for Army, who used a unique mixture of football tactics along with high-tech weaponry to defeat Navy with a final score of 0-0.

The rivalry between the service academies of West Point and Annapolis has never been more tense. Yesterday’s victory marks the first Army victory over Navy in a decade.

“We realized going into this matchup that we needed to develop a better strategy,” said West Point Head Coach Rich Ellerson. “So we took a serious look at their defense and realized they had a huge weakness that we could exploit.”

Ellerson explained that his epiphany helped him understand fundamental differences in Army vs. Navy doctrine.

“The fact is that when you’re learning how to drink martinis while driving a carrier at the Naval Academy, there isn’t much time to teach defensive fortifications.”

This realization helped the Army team to adopt an unusual offense that gave them the momentum in the game’s opening half that Navy simply couldn’t recover from.

At kickoff, the Navy team was dumbfounded as they watched the opposing players set up fortified machine gun positions, while other Black Knights began to dig foxholes with their cleats.

“We kicked off the football and ran towards them,” said an emotional Bryan Thomas, a kicker for Navy. “But none of my fellow teammates made it through the first wave. They just opened up on us with .50 cals. I can’t believe we weren’t able to read that play.”

Army Quarterback Trent Steelman was proud of the defensive line created on the field, which reminded him of traditional trench-lines they were taught in one academy class.

“My guys did a hell of a job out there. All around West Point, it’s Beat Navy on every building,” said Herzfeld. “I’m glad we finally got to beat them — with machine guns, baseball bats, and let’s not forget the grenades.”

After the first play, Navy decided to call a timeout to assess the situation and come up with a solution to Army’s .50 talking guns offense. They didn’t realize that the coach had one more trick up his sleeve.

“We thought we’d have them on the first play, but they came back for more. That’s when we called in a JDAM [air strike]. ‘The enemy of my enemy is a friend’ certainly applies, and we appreciate the help from our Air Force Academy fliers,” said Coach Ellerson.

The remaining Midshipmen that were not killed or wounded in action formally surrendered to the Black Knights later in the first quarter. The game also made history by being the first college football game to be won through the unconditional surrender of the opposing team.

Re: Great News for Marines

I picked up the satire aspect of the article, obvious as Mattis was only just finishing up his dual tribal sleeves at the local parlor this morning.

...but there is something going on at Centcomm and some people will be moving. wonder if its related to Benghazi?

From everything I have read about Mattis he doesnt seem like he would have a future the way things are. He will not be the type to sit on his hands while Americans get slaughtered.
