I recently picked up a early Inland M1 Carbine and need a sling and oiler and Type 1 barrel band if anyone knows a good place to order from. I tried Brownells and Midway USA but no go. Ebay has knockoffs but thats last resort.

Re: M1 Carbine-need a couple of things

Riverbank Armory has an endless supply of the rarer markings and some of the prettiest reproductions you'll see. I'd be happier if they were clearly marked as such.

You have to be careful on fleabay; several sellers are selling nothing but fakes. If they don't say "genuine USGI," it's probably a fake. Even if they do say it, it still might be. People have discovered there's a lot of money to be made selling fake M1 Carbine parts as genuine. For instance, I paid $200 for a particular barrel band. A reproduction goes for about $25. Unless you can pawn it off on some new collector as genuine.

Anyway, other good sources for genuine USGI M1 Carbine parts are Nick Dailey ([email protected]) and Eddy Yuja ([email protected]). Both are honest and reputable.

Check ODCMP for sling and oiler, or talk to John Spangler at:

Why a Type 1 barrel band?
Is your carbine missing one, or are you trying to do a retro build?
