Looking for ideas and experience on an upgraded field trigger for the FN TSR in 308. Need to retain the safety and have a pull weight for reasonable usage in the field (have a Rem 700 PSS at 24 ounces and probably should not go this low or lower ;-).

The initial starting point is need to confirm this takes the same trigger as a Winchester Model 70, if this is the case then appears have three options as have to pass on a Shilen Trigger, which are in my Rem 700s, as they only listed for a Rem 700.

Timney Triggerfor Win Model 70. My experience has just been with their AR15 product. There product support was good and would try them again.

Jard Trigger for a Win Model 70.

Jewell Trigger- no company website.

Note was a toss up to place with rifles or Gunsmith section and ask if any tricks with installing in the FN TSR and if the model is the same as the current FN SPR and/or Patrol rifles and in particular the Win 70.

Thanks! and if I missed the thread(s) on this in my searches, a link to the existing threads would be appreciated.

Re: Good Field Trigger for FN TSR

The best fix for that trigger is to swap the sako for the TSR. There doesn't appear to be any good replacements for the FN as it uses the very late model MOA trigger from the post 2007 winchester M70. Timney doesn't list anything for these....

good luck

Re: Good Field Trigger for FN TSR

Biff is correct, the TSR trigger is the same as the current production M-70s, not the two-lever that most after market trigger makers build to replace. They are not interchangeable. Some one may be making an MOA replacement, but I don't know for sure.

The original TSR trigger will adjust down to just under 3 pounds and can be adjusted for overtravel. Not sure how low you need to go, but 3 pounds is a pretty good field trigger.

Depending on how things go, the Sako TRG 42 in 338LM might end up replacing said FN TSR, at least for the spring, only down side is no suppressor for the Sako ;-)

Thanks both of you for the double check.

Re: Good Field Trigger for FN TSR

I recently installed a Timney on my FN PBR and after a little time to get it properly adjusted, it is excellent.

Does your FN PBR have the older style trigger or the newer "MOA" trigger (?)

Thanks

Re: Good Field Trigger for FN TSR

FN PBRs and PBR-XPs all shipped with the older style, two-lever trigger. Only TSRs and the new FNM M-70s have the three-lever "MOA" trigger.

Re: Good Field Trigger for FN TSR

Sorry to dig this up, but doesn't Timney now offer a replacement trigger for the new Winny MOA rifles to include the TSR.
Their website seems to state so........
