LA tactical comp caliber

Hey guys I have a remington 700 long action that I am getting ready to do a build on and just wanted to hear some suggested calibers. The purpose of this rifle will be to shoot tac comps and dip into the ELR stuff. Like i said i have a rem 700 action and plan on getting a pacific tool and gauge bolt so the bolt face diameter is not an issue. The only requirements for this build are 300 win mag or less, 3100 FPS max, and has to be fed from a box mag.

I would suggest the 284 WIN. Good bullet selections and with the long action can utilize the heavy ones.

6.5x55 Swede.. Just because. Loaded correctly in a modern action, it is one hell of a round. Soft shooting and EXTREMELY accurate.

i have been leaning to the 284 win seems like a good round. what would be a good barrel length for that i would like to get the most MV but i also hate using a rifle with a 28" tube. What kind of MV could i expect running the 175 or 180 grain bullets?
