I have a Leupold spotting that I want to camo up a bit. Just wondering if anyone has any experience, good or bad, with painting an armored rubber type surface. How good does the paint hold. I just don't want it to look like crap after a few weeks of bumping around and have to continuously repaint it. It's kind of like the Hogue overmold rubber.

I did search through a bunch of other threads but couldn't come up with anything.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Krylon on a Leupold

You can get a scope cover from Triad. If you do want to paint it go to a hobbey store and see if they have a primer for vinyal figures. Once you lay that down you can use Krylon.

Re: Krylon on a Leupold

I had thought about covering it with burlap and stitching it on so it was kind of form fitting. I'll look into the cover for it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Krylon on a Leupold

I can't remember the brand at the moment but they make a line of spray paint made to be used on things line plastic patio chairs, etc. I want to say it's rustoleum but I'm not positive. I've used a product called bowflage on my weapons, binos, etc that worked good but its also made to be removed easily. Regardless of what paint you use, it will wear off in areas that get a lot of use but the good part is you can touch it up when it starts to look worn.

Cant say Ive painted a spotting scope before but Ive got the Traid cover in multicam on my leupy and love it, couldnt ask for a better product.

Re: Krylon on a Leupold

Id opt to get the cover from triad, added protection plus you can order it in camo or just krylon the cover yourself. An added bonus is the 550 stitched on. I used it to mount my lrf on top wit a strap from my prs tripod mount.

Re: Krylon on a Leupold

Yup, good move on the 550!! I can mount it far back enough to get the proper eye relief for the lrf.
