I find it amazing that this photo, taken so many years ago, actually still exists!
And now, someone has put it online for all of us to see. This INCREDIBLE
picture was taken in 1918.

It is 18,000 men preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge , in Iowa .
EIGHTEEN THOUSAND MEN!!!!!

What a priceless gift from our grandfathers!

Re: 1918 Photo (Amazing) WORTH LOOKING AT‏

That is amazeing, not just for the formation, or the subject, but its proportion. The parts further away have to be progressively larger (and thus more dense in people) in order to maintain the proper size perspective. Jefferson did the same thing in planning out the buildings lineing the lawn at the university of Virginia...notice how all the columns look the same size even though their further away. To put all those guys in perspective took a lot of planning.Great photo thanks for shareing

cool photo, but...

I feel sorry for every 18k men there, how stinkin long did that take to stage...

in the 80,s we would have been standing by to stand by long enough that we would have needed to shave again...

I have seen the photo before, and it truly is amazing to think about the time and planning it must have taken.
