I need some help, folks...I just received two Razors with the 10 mil turrets. I take the first one out...start spinning the elevation turret for some elevation, it is fine. The indicators show it was at the 3rd or 4th rotation, so I went to turn it down to the first revolution. I start to turn it down and the there are no clicks, the turret just turns, nothing. I keep turning it...then it starts clicking, but it quickly goes to not clicking. Then, I go to spin it "up" and it reacts the same...no clicks, it just glides, then some clicks engage, etc, etc...

I take the second scope out. It is on the 2nd revolution, I give it the same test...exact same outcome.

Is this the "RZR" Zero Stop function or are these scopes no bueno? It has to be the Zero Stop, but if it is, did I mess the scopes up by continuing to turn them?

Having them go from no clicks to some clicks (very mushy clicks, by the way), then to gliding again is not making me feel really good right now...

Help, please?

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

When you hit the zero stop it comes to a hard stop and you can't turn it anymore.

The screws inside the turret (accessible when you take off the outer knob) that you use when setting zero/zero stop disengage the clicks when you unscrew them -- I wonder if they came to use unscrewed or partially unscrewed. Check out the procedure for setting the zero/zero stop and give it a try -- may work itself out in the process.

If not, give Vortex a call, they will take care of you.

Not at this juncture...I literally just got them out 2 minutes before I ran off to post this! That, my friends, is called reactionary!! It looks like this is the case, it's just weird they came like that...Does the Razor have a function that disengages the clicks?

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

Pull the outer cap off tighten the inner and reinstall the outer cap

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

you dudes are funny. I knew I would get some sympathy in here!!

That part about the anneurism...sad, but true!

You guys want to read some other funny shit...I am sitting here typing this, anxiously waiting for my wife to get into the shower so I can give the set screws a try.

Yeah, yeah...she doesn't know about daddy's Christmas presents, yet, and I sure as shit don't want her finding out tonight!! One heart attack at a time is all I can take

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

The screws could have contorted since leaving the factory. Most likely shrinkage from temperature change. Perfectly normal and not the only cylinderical object that shrinks with cold.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

trust me, brother, I have already used that one...a couple of times...I almost believe she's cataloged all my wares, in fact. In all honesty, she's a great woman...when she doesn't know a blew a shitload of dough on "gun stuff."

When you folks are speaking of these "set screws," are these the same screws to make the zero stop apply? Should I just tighten those down a bit or would they be different screws?

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

Yeah we're talking about the set screws in the turret cap, make sure those are all tightened down. Not right arm of God tight, just snugged up with the long end of the wrench while holding the short end. Here's vid from Vortex going over the zero stop.

I know what you mean about wives and gun gear...I think all of us can relate. If mine knew how much I'm spending on my "budget" build she'd probably flip her lid. Good luck.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

thanks a million for posting that, TM. I think I got my answer right at about 2:20 in the video. I just need the shower to get fired up. HA!

I knew it was just me being an alarmist!

I don't know if any of you folks have spoken with any of the employees at Vortex, but I had that pleasure when I ordered these puppies last week...they are outstanding. Even when I was freaking out over the turrets, I at least had the solice to know they would have helped me right out, no questions asked, IF there were something wrong. I got that impression from just the short time I was on the horn with them ordering the scopes.

Dude, I called because I marred the battery cover on my SPARC... Got a new one in my mailbox the very next day!!!

Also got a great invite to their shop, since my last name happens to be the same as their city location... and we're Wisconsinites! lol

Communication with them is ridiculous! I hope it never changes...

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

update from last night...you all were right, it was just the set screws in the turret caps themselves, they were a bit loose on both scopes. Thanks all for the help.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

I'm glad it all worked out for you. Enjoy the scopes, I wouldn't mind picking up a 10 mil/EBR-2B set up one day but that day is a long way off.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

thanks, TM. To be quite honest, I thought I never in a million years would own one Razor, let alone two. It is a slow "upgrading" process. It is nice to actually do this because whenever I "upgrade," I can always appreciate that new piece of gear that much more.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

That's true, I've been using the NF F1's for a few years now and love the scopes but sometimes a little more mag would be nice. I'll probably never get rid of the F1 that I have now so it looks like I better start saving up for one now...although maybe I'll keep it on the down low. The look on my wife's face when I said that I got a new rifle, stock, and DBM was not the look of joy that I had.

Re: Please Tell Me My Razors are Working!

Well, it looks like I am a little late to the party and everyone has got you taken care of in immediate fashion. Thanks everyone!!!

I will add, we started shipping the scopes with the set screws on the outer turret loose. The reason for this being that taking this cap off should be the first thing you do before you go to zero in your scope. As it needs to be off and the under cap set screws need to be loosened(making sure the zero stop is engaged before doing so).

I could go on, but it has all been said in the video ,that was kindly posted, from this point.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best Regards
Scott

You're right about folks going out and zeroing the scope right away, hence the purpose behind leaving those set screws loose...absolutely reasonable. I, however, am not reasonable!!

In this instance, I had only spun the turret on the 5 mil model. I was super interested to check/compare the clicks on these 10 mil turrets, so I took the scope out and started spinning!

You folks do see what I mean about the employees out there?

Thanks a million, Scott!
