This is what I am looking at. Please throw out any suggestions. Is there any reason to go with a 34-35mm tube? I don't care about using any of my existing rings.
If I can swing it it's a once in a long time purchase. I am not looking at anything else, this is purely a USO discussion.

Sn-3.2-17X
44mm Objective
EREK 1/10mil 110 click milestone Elevation
US#3 1/10mil Windage Stop right
30mm standard tube
T-pal left
Red Illumination
Mill Scale GAP
Lo-Pro eyepiece internal level

Thanks.

Re: Spec'n a USO

I like left hand windage, have my tpal and windage on left, illuminate on right, don't have to move as much to make adjustments. Mostly personal performance there

Re: Spec'n a USO

Nice choice, USO FTW.

I'm not an expert, Someone let me know if my info is bunk.

A 30mm tube vs a 34mm or 35mm tube would allow for an extra (estimated) 3 Mils or 10 MOA of travel.

If i remember and understand correctly, one thing to consider is. If your wanting every bit of elevation out it, the hard Milestone clicks stay at the same spot on the knob adjuster. So they might not be at a whole interval on a full travel zero. That's the only reason I passed on that option.

If you don't care to have every bit then milestone should be awesome. You can zero on a Milestone click.

As per USO

Re: Spec'n a USO

I have blue illum and love it. I have red and green on red dots and the blue works no matter what the background.

Good luck,
Merritt

Looks good to me

Re: Spec'n a USO

Blue illumination is the most likely to cause your eye to become less sensitive. Red will have the least impact.

I chose green on my USO for the simple fact I like green and figures it is the color with our highest sensitivity to different shades. So even if I look at green on green I will have the highest chance of being able to tell the difference. Red would be my next choice, even more so if I was shooting in low light applications.

Blue is the coolest though. Other than being cool as hell, and maybe better than no illumination, I don't see the point. Maybe USO could tell you why it is an option though, they are smart fellers.

Re: Spec'n a USO

I like 34mm and 35mm tubes.

Am NOT a TPal fan, the ERGO works well for me.

I have scopes with red illum. and with green illum., none with blue.

The important thing is to get it built the way that YOU want it.

Re: Spec'n a USO

Really evaluate how much you dial windage. I ponied up for the #3 M40 with stop and I almost wish I got a #1 with a cover... The more I shot, the more I just hold for wind. Looks fancy though

If you dial wind, left side is the way to go if you are right handed.

I say forget milestone and just ask for the big numbers.

look up the 'comp rifle' reticle, I wish I knew about that. If it existed in 09 that would be my only regret aside from not getting the 3.8-22 (RIP)

Re: Spec'n a USO

I went with the blue GAP reticle windage M40 #3 on the left and the normal EREK in the 11 mils per turn with the big font and I love the setup. I also was lucky enough to get an ERGO before the are gone.

So I'm pretty happy with the glass so far but I really only mounted it a few weeks ago.
I was going to do the same setup in a 1.8-10x37 in a few months for the AR10 but I'll probably wait on the 1-8 or opt for a 1.5-6 as I not a fan of the side parallax.

Re: Spec'n a USO

My favorite reticle was always the gap until I got my GenII XR's

Re: Spec'n a USO

Why did they get rid of the ERGO? From everything I've been reading, it was heavily preferred over the T-Pal.

it's not a big seller, slows production down.

Heavily preferred? In another thread Dave@USO said the sales numbers were 30:1 in favor of the TPAL.
Concentrating on what sells seems like a good idea

I won't disagree with that logic.

As far as preferred, it was from threads I was reading here. There seemed to be a lot more recommendations for the ERGO over the TPal.

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but is the ERGO out of production on all models ?

I just checked up on USO site and it looks like that the ERGO is (might ?) still be available on their SN-3 1.8-10X scope. Am I right ?

I asked Mr Kyle to confirm here on Sniper's Hide if this is the case.

Re: Spec'n a USO

Don't worry about a HiJack. I am learning and thanks for the responses and the help.

I had wondered about the milestone and the windage stop so I see many say windage stop not needed. I agree it will almost always be a hold not much dialing. That may get dropped and I need to ponder the milestone. May also change to blue illumination.

Anyone have the built in level? Care to comment?

Re: Spec'n a USO

Well, I was a little behind the curve.

I received confirmation that the ERGO is not available any more. BIG LOSS, I think.

No need for Mr Kyle to appear at this stage unless he really wishes to.

Re: Spec'n a USO

Agree.
No newer USOs for me.
Will watch for used ERGOs instead.
