Is this a good price?

I found a local place that is selling NEW Federal .223 55gr FMJ bullets, 250 quanity for about $23.
Is this a good deal or what?

I just cant find anyone else who sells Federal Bullets. I may jump on this then..

If that's what they ring up for at the register, you'd be stupid not to buy them all.

I've never seen / used Federal 55gr FMJ's - how do they compare to the 55gr Hornady FMJBTs? I use the Hornadys - just picked up a big batch for .08 cents ea.

Ive never seen Federal Bullets by themselves either. But I just ordered 2000 of them for $160 shipped! Im not sure if these are Boat Tails (I fotgot to ask). Even google doesnt really give you any info on these bullets.
The guy told me that their company bought 10 25k round drums of these bullets and they are currently selling off what they dont need.

You got a good deal on those hornadys! Where did you snag them from?

Midsouth Shooters has the Hornady 55's in several different quantities - $457 for 6000, plus shipping. Here's a direct link.

They were out of stock when I needed some, but a new local reloading shop found them elsewhere and matched the price.

Indeed. The shop is new & working hard to build loyalty. I can't imagine he made much, if anything, on the sale.

Why? Because I'm cheap, and I reload as cheaply as I can for a given goal (plinking / blasting rounds in this case). I love that for the time being I'll be shooting that one for less than $200 / 1000. So nope - not for sale.

I just sold some (1500) Hornady 55 fmj bt last week for $50/500 shipped. Guess I should have held on to them and listed them for $200/500 shipped!
