AR Iron Sights

Moderators. if this is in the wrong place, please advise. I have a Matech OGU83 flip up iron sight on my Bushmaster AR and wish to replace the standard issue front sight with a gas block adapter with a rail on the top. My question is, using the OGU83, what would be a compatable flip up front sight to use? I have been looking at all that is available and want to get a good a match as is possible. Thanks in advance!

What length is the gas system on your ar?

Not sure, the rifle is a Bushmaster in M4 configuration. The fore end is about 6.5 inches and the barrel is about 16 inches.

Yeah mount a plastic sight on a steel gas block. While you're at it, explain how the gas system length makes any difference?

OP, what you need is a clamp on gas block and a folding front sight that is designated as a gas block mounted sight.

Your other option is a gas block with an integrated folding sight, there are clamp on models from Young mfg, VLTOR, YHM, etc.

Thanks for the input, but what I need to know is which front sights will pair up height wise with my rear sight. Maybe there is a standard, but I don't know for sure.

I ordered a YankeeHill with built in gasblock and a rail on the bottom. That should do the trick.
