Was taking inventory of misc. optics i had laying around recently and came across this 8-26x Horus Predator. An idea popped in my mind to put it on my MR Picuda. I knew the integral Weaver mount would support it no problem with Burris Zee rings to give me a lot of flexibility for maximizing the turret. Just wasn't sure the objective bell would clear the muzzle. Sure enough it did. My nephew was home from the USAF, and getting bored. So we went out to the range and he zeroed it, and next shot was 8 MOA up and he nailed the 1" bolt holding the steel disc on the 110-yd. target frame on the IHMSA range. What a reward! Next up was the 165-yd. disc, and on the 2nd shot nailed the bolt again--OOHHHRAAHH! Went to 230 yds. [30 MOA up] then and he nailed a piece of shale on the 3rd shot. OOHHRRAAHH X2!

Went out the next day and had some fun with prairie dogs. What a great couple days it was. That IS hands-down my favorite hunting 22 now. Can actually reference 600 yds. with reticle [75 MOA] + turret [60]--

thats awesome. i really like using my 22 pistol for groundhogs but not the distances youre talking. 50yds is probably the furthest ive got one, but then again i just use a red dot optic. ill try a scope next summer

Just saw your post sir! I consider 150 yds. super long-range for PD's actually--600 is just for fun. Good luck with your handgun stuff--sure is a kick ain't it?

Re: Most Fun I've Ever Had With a 22!

and people look at me like I'm crazy when I shoot a gong at 300 with a 22lr rifle! You sir are an innovator.

curious, I'm assuming you're maintaining standard eye relief, and that this isn't a long eye relief scope? getting an image of a guy curled up around that little bugger on the ground...

this is exceptionally cool.

I wouldn't have ever thought of shooting one of those out that far. Good to know it can be done.

Re: Most Fun I've Ever Had With a 22!

Did you have to offset aim and Kentucky windage into the sky that far out with a .22? I always have a blast when I'm out with my 22 sticks.

Every time I visit the deer lease I shoot my 16" CMMG .22 upper with Viper PST 1-4 anywhere from 100-300 yards on the range. At 300, I can make about 75% hits shooting slow. Helps to know the drop. When the wind is still I can double tap at 300 yards...that one is a bit more difficult. Lots of fun!

Re: Most Fun I've Ever Had With a 22!

Until this year I've never tried those ranges with a 22. We have a 150 yard range that we shoot them on, but a few months ago Deadeye turned and started shooting at targets on our long range from our 150 prone area. It ranged 305 yards from there and he was making hits on about 5" targets with a suppressed savage bolt action and 16" barrel. Now we have a new 350 yard range set up on the property just for 22's. It's a lot of fun when the wind is good. No harder than shooting my 308 at our longest range about 630 yards.
