Finally got my 6.8 finished - pics

I finally got this back from the gunsmith. I recently traded it for one of my other guns and had him lighten up the trigger, and smooth out the feed ramp and put some Duracoat on it.

It's a POF lower with an Adams Arms piston kit and bolt and a Bison match grade barrel. I just took it to the range and it shoots pretty well. I was at about 1MOA (minus the flyer) and that's with a 5x scope which is like shooting at a postage stamp at 100 yards. I was using Hornady Match ammo 110 grain. It didn't like 115's.

I'm awaiting my tax stamp so I can get my AAC 7.62SD from the gun shop and finish this project off.

Looks good.
But might want to get the magpul front sight off the gas block.
It will melt.

Looking good, only thing in missing for my 6.8 build is a barrel

I'm glad to see another Bison Armory shooter. I don't see many outside of 68forums.com, but I love my 16" upper.

Nice, 6.8 is a badass round! Fits perfectly between 5.56 and .308!

Re: Finally got my 6.8 finished - pics

Nice rig, Ben has some good 6.8 barrels.

Re: Finally got my 6.8 finished - pics

Have you tried any SSA ammo in it yet? My 6.8 didn't group worth crap w/ Hornady V-max but it would shoot sub MOA with SSA Sierra Pro Hunter and OTM. I know a lot depends on twist rate, barrel length, etc but it's worth a try.

Thanks for the tip. Didn't know that.

SSA seemed to shoot well but I ran out of it trying to get a round on paper during the sight in process. I only have a 5X scope on it and it took a little longer than I had hoped. I'll be giving it another try.

Yeah I agree. Fun round. It clangs the gong pretty hard at 200 and 300 yards. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Finally got my 6.8 finished - pics

Love all my 68's and I have a few I haven't even shot. Vmax just doesn't shoot good out of any I've tried, but the 115SMK over H322 shoots bugholes. I usually grab my 10 twist RRA, DD, or Ambush (DDtoo) all in 16" middy's but my Addax, and Wilson C are 3 groove 11 twist. The 110 PH's over H322 makes a deer killing machine. Got a doe last year at 300yds (297 ranged) and she didn't take a step with a shoulder shot. I have shot the 68 out to 500, and the RRA shot better than my Rec7 Barrett I had. It was a tough gun, but waaay over priced, and I'm more of a DI guy than a piston, as they always shoot better at distance. Also been working with a 130g bullet that is doing great from 300 in.
BTW Nice lookin rig, I bought a case of SSA a few mos ago from a friend still new in case, when he switched to a Grendel. his loss the way I look at it.
