I know, I know, it''s been hashed and rehashed and both are great rifles but just for fun, let's hear it again, which one?

Re: AI AE or TRG

Because opinions change, maybe more guys are now using one when they used the other. Maybe guys bought an AI but found it too heavy (like me) and wanted to go lighter. I don't know, sorry if I wasted your time.

Re: AI AE or TRG

I suggest to try to find a way to get behind both rifles before yo decide. My vote goes to the AI, but in all honesty I have never owned a TRG but I have fired a few and was very impressed. Like the AI, the TRG stock is very much a love it or hate it thing and since both the AI and the TRG are very difficult to restock without some major work, it just might come down to that. With the featires both rifles have its about as close to a apples to apples comparison as you could get, both have a 6o degree bolt lift, 3 lug bolt, 10 round mag, good triggers, etc.

Thanks Kirk, hope it's not raining too bad in Arlington as I used to live in Woodinville before making back to Colorado

Re: AI AE or TRG

I've owned both but I'm not gonna tell you

Re: AI AE or TRG

I have both, what is it, like a 2LBS difference, heck you can change the AE barrel to the same thin profile as the TRG and probably solve that issue.

I don't think I have touched my TRG in 5 or 6 years ...

Re: AI AE or TRG

Between the AE and TRG I like the TRG. To me, AI's have 2 main advantages over the TRG and they are both found in the AW and AX only. Double stack mags and being bonded to the chassis. I'm a big fan of the TRG trigger, ergonomics, and I actually really like the TRG mags.

XLR industries among another reputable manufacturer, create chassis systems that are drop-in. If you don't like the TRG's ergo's, maybe one of these chassis may work...Keep in mind, a TRG is a little less expensive than an AE, so you may be able to buy a new TRG and an XLR chassis for around the same price of an AE 2.0, if you wish to go that route

Re: AI AE or TRG

i own the TRG 22 and a AIAW folder (not an AIAE) that I just bought recently. My Impressions so far. The TRG has a superior trigger and much slicker bolt. The AIAW stock is a bit more comfortable for me. I like the TRG magazine better because it doesn't have the bolt stop the AI mags have and I can just lay a round on the mag follower and load single rounds, which is what I do most of the time, rather than having to load them into the magazine first. The AIAW seems a bit more accurate possibly because of the Bartlein barrel. As others have said see if you can get behind both first then decide. You can't go wrong with either one.

Re: AI AE or TRG

When you get back to Colorado give me a shout. I have an AW and an AX you can take for a test drive.

I would add one more advantage to the AI, you can order a barrel from any qualified smith and twist it on yourself with the AI action wrench.

Re: AI AE or TRG

AIAE all the way, the TRG sucks/ piece of shit...Lol!

I think that is what you want to hear anyways. To be serious for a moment, the answer to this question has been answered a thousand times on here and other places. It's up to you and what you like, both rifles are great rifles.

If I had to choose between the two, the AIAE mark III, is an easy choice over the TRG...most reasons are mentioned above. The barrel change option is on the top of the list. Other than that, it's just plain bad-ass and makes you way more sniper cool.
