Lost in Idaho...
Is there anyone out there that anybody knows of that makes a chassis system for the M98 action? I have one Im building (I know, there are much better options out there, but its a labor of love) and I need to figure out the home in which its going to live in.

I know Fajen and McMillan as well as a few others out there make stocks for the M98, but Im more looking for a true chassis type system. After putting my R700 in an Eliseo RTS, I dont think I could ever really be happy going back to a traditional stock for this kind of rifle project.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

I really doubt you will find a chassis type setup for a 98 Mauser. If you really want one it's probably going to be a one off type of build, and not a regular production item.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

SVThuh,

Sorry, but no. It's hard enough to even get a tactical style stock for an M98, let alone a chassis. I think it's a niche market that could be pursued. Somebody would have to spend a bunch of bucks to do it though.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

I would imagine people wanting to put one in a chassis are few and far between making payback almost impossible.

I bought a rem700 dbm for caliber 300win (my cal are 6.5x55) then you just need to move the screwholes abit. I try upload a pic of mine later.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

If I recall correctly, XLR Industries will inlet for just about anything if you ask.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

For a chassis you havbe a few options, Voere makes one for they're LBW rifles, possible to contact them to see if you can get you're hands on one, would be you're best bet.

http://www.voere.de/en/rifle-technology/targetrifles/lbw-m.html

As mentioned it might be possible to get kyle at xlr to inlet one for you.

Have seen one more but can't recall where i found it.

Only alternative imo is a McMillan of you're choise with a cdi dbm.

And to those who are'nt enlightened, the M 98 is actually a quite popular action to build off so it's not that difficult to come across good aftermarket accesories.
And companies like Voere and Prechtl, makes new production rifles on new Mauser actions.

That something is not popular or made in the U.S does not mean it does not exist.

Arez,

The "no" only meant they are not accessible very easily in the U.S. Do you have a link to the Prechtl? I know I can find the Voere.

And, FWIW, I LOVE the Mauser action.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

Thanks for all the info. Looks like I'm going to be talking with XLR and maybe with McRee also on the off chance they would be able to do something for me.

I looked at Voere and I couldn't find any info on their chassis systems. All I was able to find was their complete rifle packages. Their chassis looked a bit too wild for me anyways.

I'm interested in finding more info on the Prechtl though if its possible..

I can't wait to "break ground" on this build. 6.5x55 M98 Mauser set up for long range precision. It's gonna be sweet!

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

Prechtl seems like they make some interesting stuff, but it says clearly on the section where they show the chassis as being for authorities only... I guess my search continues.

Though the Prechtl receivers look pretty darn trick!

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

There are quite some tricked out 98 Actions over here in Germany. But the Market isn't 1% of that what you have in America.

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

xlr industries????? They Should be able to cut you an inlet.

That is sad, because they are one AWESOME action!

Re: M98 action chassis systems?

pick a stock/chassis that you like, call C. Dixon.

I purchased an Archangel stock from ProMag, it works very well

Check out GRS, they are listing the M98 in their Bifrost stock. Eurooptic is the US dealer.
