I found a couple of ARs that don't seem to be too high since the price hikes. I was wanting some input please.

- Stag SA3
- DPMS RFA2-AP4
- Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport
- CMMG M4LE
- DPMS Oracle
- CMMG M4 SA

Which one would ya'll recommend and why? Thanks for the help.

Re: Which AR?

If it were me I'd go with the M&P closest to mil spec all around and great warranty if needed

Re: Which AR?

I would go with the M&P as well. I've never handled a Stag, though.

Re: Which AR?

For what you are going to pay for one of those systems find you a Sig 516 for about the same price and a far better system and gas pistoned also. Or hang tight for a couple weeks or month till all this lunacy passes and the market will be flooded with bargains every where from people trying to recoup some of their losses.

Re: Which AR?

I found quite a few DPMS, but apparently they don't have high marks.

What I have been able to find:

- I haven't been able to find any Sigs in my price range except for one. It is a Sig 556 with some customization for $1,750

- I have found a couple of Rock Rivers LAR15 for about $1,699

- S&W M&P15 Sport for $1,499 Seems to be a good option with pretty decewnt reviews. Just doesn't have the dust cover and forward assist, but I have read reviews saying these are not that big of deal.

What do you think about these options (guns & price)?

Re: Which AR?

Ordered a LMT June of 2012, promised Oct then Nov. then DEC.
just called yesterday and was told next month. Also they (she) wanted to know if I wanted to cancel? I of coarse said no and was told the wait is now 2 years if you ordered today.

Re: Which AR?

SIG makes fine weapons, BUT, if you think things are tough now, good luck finding SIG parts when you need them.

So I guess what you are saying is pick one and buy it

LOL before they get really scarce.

I'm just trying to decide if I can afford to do it and if I make the plunge (money wise) try to get the mos,t or qulaity, for my money.

Same advise here. I have both the LMT and the S&W and for the price difference and performance I'd choose the S&W.

Re: Which AR?

If your life depends on the rifle, none of those would be my first choice.

I'd go with the S&W as it's a known quantity. It's not from their LE line, but as long as it has a 5.56 chamber I'd trust it over the others.

Re: Which AR?

Okay....several have said they would pick the S&W M&P15 Sport. I have read mostly all good review on it. I also know from talking to others that the Rock River LAR15 isn't a bad unit either.

So, I have one last question/comparison....of these two which would you pick given the money is same: Rock River LAR15 Entry Tactical or the S&W M&P15 Sport.

I really appreciate all the help I have been given so far.

Re: Which AR?

I've shot the stag, the dpms's, and I own the m&p sport. I will recommend the mp sport. Reasons: thicker barrel diameter, melonite coated bore, and you cannot beat the price on them. I have only 500 rds through mine, but haven't had any malfunctions. Hope this helps. Happy hunting.

Re: Which AR?

I have a stag model 3 and a S&W tactical. I threw a ctr and moe grip on the stag with a set of troy sights and it is my favorite of the two. But that being said I have handled one of the rock arms models (not sure which one) and I liked it a lot. Also one of my friends has a ST-15 from spikes. It is still under 1000 bucks at one of the gun stored local to here anyway. I like that gun alot! I have actually been entertaining the idea of trading my S&W in on it but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

*I guess that spikes now has a tag of 1200 bucks...I think I should have just did the deal 2 weeks ago when I was going to.

Re: Which AR?

My buddy has the smith really good gun no issues i have a few including a dpms lower with a rock river upper I'ver had any issues with it but it's not a true dpms or rra it's a collaboration.

Re: Which AR?

I have a RRA 5.56 and a DPMS LR 308 (AP4 version), happy with both, 2k rounds through the RRA about the same for the DPMS maybe a bit less. The DPMS is sub MOA, surprised me with such a short barrel. How come you don't consider a colt? As soon as the madness dies down I will get the Colt AR LE version.

Re: Which AR?

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Rock River LAR15 Entry Tactical with a detachable carry handle last night on gunbroker.com. I got it for $1,699.00 I know that I paid an inflatted price, but it didn't seem as bad as alot of others I looked at. Man, some people are crazy on what they are asking and getting for some ARs.

Anyways, I appreciate all the input and advice. It is greatly appreciated. Now it just needs to get here.

As I said before the S&W of the ones you listed would be my choice. But I also have A Rock River and it would be my choice over the S$W Sport. The price you paid for yours wasn't a bad price at all considering the insanity out there.

Re: Which AR?

I would have to go with smith or stag, those stags have a great accuracy guarentee and ive always wanted something smith and wesson...

DAMN! I got lucky and bought a new M&P Sport and a Sig M400 for less than 1699. It's nuts out there.

Re: Which AR?

S&W, reliable all around. Well-known company.
