Everyone seems to be after a 1-6 for their AR. Why haven't I seen this little gem mentioned, seems about perfect to me. Anyone have any first hand experience?

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

I have one on order for a while now in BTR-2. There is some negativity regarding the usability of the reticle in FFP being too small and hindering the illumination. Illumination on the 2fp models are reportedly better.

On 1x a small reticle is fine for me and I'll be receiving the FFP model. I'm waiting on a demo to be returned, retail is a bit steep. There are a few sparce reviews out there but I don't think it became as popular with the price near the Razor HD and similar. I'm excited for it though, sounds great to me as well (glass is supposedly excellent).

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

I got one and love it. I have the BTR2 in Sfp .

It is not daylight bright. The ffp is VERY small at 1x and with it not being daylight bright was hard to see. The ffp at its max brightness is like a aimpoint at setting 6.

The Sfp is like a eotech at 1x. The dot in the middle is 1 moa. I like eotech's so it was exactly what I was looking for.

Basically
Sfp : eotech at 1x and mils are calibrated at 6.5

Ffp: dim aimpoint ( burgundy dot not red)at 1x and you can't see the mill line till around 3 power but its calibrated at any magnification .

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Oh yea, and ten mil turrets that lift up and rotate to zero, no tools needed

For me and have heard from others scope needs to be mounted far forward so get a cantilevered mount.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Dvor had the BTR2 FFP on sale last week and I ordered one. UPS says it will be here Thursday so I will give a report.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

I'll agree with Finbox, I also have the SFP BTR-2. I like this scope a lot, while I don't think it matches my K-dot for close in speed it makes up for it down range where the BTR-2 shines. This scoped replaced a 1-4 PST and while I liked that scope, this one IMHO is much better but comes at double the price so it's not really a fair comparison. If your looking for a mil reticle and pretty decent turrets this scope fits nicely.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Has anyone compared the illumination between the BTR-1 and BTR-2 in the ffp?

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Its major weak point is its turrets. That quick-zero feature makes it unsuitable to use with the turrets exposed. I really like the scope otherwise.

For the 3-gun crowd having non exposed turrets is needed. Bumping the scope going in and out of ports, and barrels etc. and military use as well. Hiking while slung too.

Remember this is a carbine scope for fast sight pictures, not a precision scope.

Wait for the 1-8.5 that will come out next year, it will have exposed turrents

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Second to that. The only time I really want exposed turrents is for elevation at extended long range.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Just so there's no confusion, the turrets are capped, 1/10 mil

I think something got lost in translation about their resettable (lift) function.

Still waiting myself for my demo to be returned, very excited. I have a feeling the new model will be quite pricey in comparison.

You can have capped turrets that are actually usable when left uncapped. The ones on this scope are so flimsy that you could easily lift them and lose your zero just trying to make an adjustment in a hurry. They are the same cheesy turrets they use on the rest of the Elite 6500 series.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

I dont know why anybody would want to adjust the turrents on the fly. It would be like putting target turrets on a 6x eotech.
This scope does not even have crosshairs, or a horizontal mil line. And on the brt-1 it does not have a vertical mil line. It has bullet drop.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

What difference does it make if the aiming point is a crosshair or a dot? My Vortex 1-4x also has a dot. It has turrets and I dial them in for long shots (>300 yards).

If you don't need turrets, then you aren't shooting anything at any appreciable distances, or you aren't doing it with any degree of precision if you are.

I've never understood this fear of bumping turrets in CQB use. Being a click or five off at close distances isn't going to make any
difference. For any kind of precision shot that it would, I'd rather have the option of dialing-in the scope. I suspect that I'm not the only one since, as the OP mentions, this scope does not seem to get a lot of attention outside of 3 gun circles.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

3 gun guys shoot from 5 yards to 500 yards so your assumption is incorrect. You have a reticle, use it.

Re: Bushnell 1-6.5x24 Elite Tactical

Received the BTR2 FFP, mounted it up on my backup 3 gun rifle and sighted it in last weekend. While the illumination is not as bright as the Swarovski Z6i I found it usable in the daylight. Didn't spend lots of time with it because of the wind and cold, but even with the sun reflecting off the snow illumination was plenty visable.

Ktm690Enduro,

Congrats on the new glass. Get a chance to take any pics? Mine has been back ordered for what seems indefinitely. Very unfortunate. Would like to hear more of your thoughts after you get more time with it. There's very little user feedback on it; I've seen one video review but it was on the BTR-1 in SFP I believe.
