Van Dyke Rifles?

Re: Van Dyke Rifles?

Poison123's comment is funny and the link of Km22 is what I looked at few weeks ago, just didn't remember where I read it. Forget about VDR, there are other good builders out there who will built you a bad ass looking, accurate 338LM, or hit Sako TRG42 if u don't want the wait and still have a great rifle. Lots of good reports on them and Kurt's TRG42 and my TRG22 are there to testify of their accuracy. Sako changed the rifling from 1/12 to 1/10, in order to handle the 300gr, so if you go that way, get a new one.
True that the custom look and results are more than appealing!
Good shooting.
Ombre noire.

Re: Van Dyke Rifles?

I sent a barrel off to have them put a muzzle break on it. When it left my house it was a great shooter. When I got it back 8 months later, yes 8 months for a muzzle break, they coated the barrel with some Teflon coating as an extra bonus for the extended wait time which I did not ask for that totally ruined the harmonics of the barrel and holds way to much heat. My guess is they left it out in the garage over the winter and it rusted so badly they had to cover it up. Additionally, they re-crowned the barrel because as they said “the Remington way is not as good as ours” so they fixed it. Now the crown is just a 90 degree flat surface. So in a fashion, they basically ruined the barrel and as I felt sorry for the guy and his family’s health issues, I just wrote it off as a lesson learned as the court fees would cost more than a new barrel. I won’t ever use them again or recommend their services.
