Anyone recently contacted GAP in reference to a new build? I am in the market for a GAP 10 and was wondering if a six month build was still the norm.

Re: GAP 10

That's about the norm now. When I first ordered mine mid October I was quoted 8 months but now they say it will be done around end of February to begining of March. . Was kind of a nice christmas present.

In the bolt action section, GA has a status update stickied to the top that they update reregularly.

Re: GAP 10

Be realistic and save yourself the stress by planning that it could take up to a year since the panic shoppers have swallowed up anything and everything. But, 4-6 months is the estimated time currently. It's worth the wait though...

I just finished completing my order a couple of days ago. Dustin at GAP estimated 4-6 months. I'm no hurry so that time frame is perfectly acceptable to me.

I have been wondering about that. Is there any chance it would grandfather in orders already in progress? Or, could GAP go in to high gear kicking out just barely machined lowers, get them serial numbered, sent out to the customer, then the customer could send them back for further work? I'm sure there's a loop hole or two that could be manipulated.
I've been holding off calling GAP and ordering one as I figure unless any of the above is possible, it's too late to place an order now and get something before any bill will be a done deal or dead. If there does end up being a work around, there will be time to get an order in before hand.

Re: GAP 10

I have 5 high end, semi-auto rifles on order. All I can do is keep placing orders and hope that I'll end up with the majority of them.

With any luck, an AWB will end up defeated or watered down so "black" rifles will continue to be sold to law abiding citizens.

I asked about doing just that and they said it was not possible to do that. I would really like a GAP-10 but I won't put the money down until this bill is proposed and some kind of a time line is established.

Re: GAP 10

Don't hesitate to put money down on a GAP, GA already said on several threads on here that if a ban comes, they will refund the deposits.

Re: GAP 10

Thanks for the information. If nothing else works out beforehand I plan on calling next week. Hopefully they can get it to me before any new legislation would go into effect.

Re: GAP 10

Thank you for the updated info on your estimated turn around on the GAP-10. A little more research and the trigger may be pulled on a few of them for us. Can we do a bakers dozen?

+1

Not trying to be negative but just to help with people's expectations, I ordered my GAP 10 in Jan of 2009 right after Obama was sworn in under similar threats of AWB. I was quoted 4-6 months too but it ended up taking 13 months cause GAP couldn't get any parts to work with. In fact I ended up switching from Armalite to DPMS parts so I could get it quicker. It was a long wait but totally worth it in the end. My GAP 10 is probably my favorite rifle to shoot. But if I was ordering now I'd just set my expectations at a year and be real excited if it ended up being 6 months.
