This My Friends Is Why The USA Is F#cked:

Re: This My Friends Is Why The USA Is F#cked:

Our family quit giving presents at Christmas when we realized that it all felt more like "Have to", than "Want to". Much of that perception came from retailers who try to guilt trip you into spending more and more, lest you be thought of as a cheap ass. By the statements above, it would appear that the retailers have been successful.

We still give each other presents, but not on the days when retailers try to make us feel as we "Have to" buy things. We figure we can show our love to each other any time we want, and buy presents at many odd times of the year, not just specific days on a calendar. If we need to be reminded by retailers when to show our love, it is a pretty sorry state of affairs.

I remember one year when I was about nine years old, my mom bought me a stencil set for Christmas. I told her "this gift sucks". The look on her face broke my heart and it bothers me every time I think about it to this day. I realize now that if I could be half the parent that mom is, then I've done something.

+1. Kids will be what their parents let them be or mold them in to. These need some firm molding. very firm.

This! </div></div>

Twits posting content that belongs in the shitter = Twitter.

But then again I feel the same way about any "social media".

Ain't that the truth!

Mark Twain said, <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.</div></div>

I pulled that shit once too. For a birthday, my parents got me a Pink Floyd album, and I couldn't be bothered with such a crappy gift. What an ungrateful kid I was. There's lots of dumb shit I've done, and very few things I really regret. This is one of them.
