AR-10 magazines ?

Re: AR-10 magazines ?

Wait ti the beginning of feb before spending too much, seems to be the back order date from most of the online suppliers, nobody will be kicking down your door anytime soon. I bought a bunch right before teh election, Brownells is letting you back order for a very fair price, so are some others out there.

HA! Define "reasonable?"

Most of the retailers I have purchased from in the past are out with no reasonable anticipation of when backorders from Armalite may be filled. Armalite isn't tipping their hand as to production numbers for mags or projected availability, but even after instituting a "rationing" system of no more than 2 mags of greater than 10-rounds per customer per order and cancelling all bulk orders previously placed, they are out of ALL MAGS (even 5- and 10-rounders).

As for "reasonable" priced mags...the AR-10 subforum in the BARFCOM equipment exchange in the single largest source of mags for sale that I have seen and mags appear to be widely ranging from ~$50 for new 20-round Gen II mags upwards of ~$80 for new 25-round Gen II mags.

Reasonable prices??? NOOOOO!!! But infinitely "more reasonable" than some of the crazy $#!T I've witnessed on GunBroker lately for AR-10 mags!

Re: AR-10 magazines ?

Reasonable is highly flexible right now, as is anything that might fit in an assault weapons ban.

If there's no ban, and things calm down, we'll probably be back to normal supply and prices in 12-18 months. In that case if you have mags and don't need them current prices are totally unreasonable.

If on the other hand we get another 94' like ban, with some of the likely modifications to close the loop holes last time around, then basically any price right now is reasonable if you have to have them.

No one that's talking knows what's really likely to happen, but I'd say they have a better shot at a ban this time around than in 2008. It depends on how much time goes by before they try to push it through, the longer they wait the better the odds of it not being passed because the tragedy of the shootings will fade.

So either way you gamble, buy for huge prices now, and you gamble lots of $ that in a year prices are back to normal. Don't buy now and if they get a ban through, you won't have the option to legally buy at any price.

Hi capacity mags are an easy target, it's hard to justify someone "needing" 20-30 round mags, most states don't allow them for hunting, and most competitions don't allow them either, plus competitions could be easily modified to accommodate 10 round only mags etc. and if they just ban mags they aren't banning guns so they get more casual gun owners that might be open to such policies compared to actually banning guns.

Re: AR-10 magazines ?

I have three used gen 1s I will sell you for $115 shipped. They are not dented but they have been used. You may or may not want to refinish. I have pics under the same user name at Arfcom in the AR-10 section of the EE. PM if you want them...

Re: AR-10 magazines ?

I have ten of the 20 rounders, bought them in 2007, still in the wrap, i only use the couple ten rounders I picked up for cheap at the local gunhow.
ten rds is plenty to get the barrel plenty hot.

Re: AR-10 magazines ?

Try MGM Targets....bought ten of the 20rd Magpul for a nickel less than $20/each. Ship date is supposedly mid January.
