What's the lowest cantilever mount for a flat top AR? I like to get really low on the stock and have read the PEPR mounts are kinda high.

Thanks,

John

Re: Lowest Cantilever mount for AR

Burris' Pepr mount is high, it will clear a 56mm objective on a flattop with flip covers. Here's a picture of one (qd model) next to one of my Warne Ramp mounts, which will clear a 50mm and is a great height. It does not have as much forward positioning as the Burris.

I like them both but they have their separate purposes. The Warne is very nicely machined-

For 30mm tubes the Nightforce 1.125"

For 1" tubes I have gone to the Badger Riser @ .430 and a set of low .75" rings.

I could get a 44mm OBJ in the NF mount to clear the hand guard and a 40mm OBJ on the riser/rings.

Re: Lowest Cantilever mount for AR

I appreciate the replies.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with a Burris MTAC 1-4. 24mm objective, so I should be able to go pretty low with it. Does that change anyone's recommendations?

Thanks,

John

I dont know exactly what the height is but my Spuhr 30mm canti mount is pretty damn low and IMO is the best mount ever designed. It isnt a QD mount though.

I would still recommend it. You could still go lower, but I think it's a great height for an AR. Centerline of the ocular is in a nice spot for most applications in my opinion.

These are not mine, but thought they might give you an idea of how it would turn out.

Someone's running this one backwards, interesting, don't know if it would work everywhere though

About the height you will get on flat top, with a short 1-4 or similar

It's a very nice mount for the money, I'm not sure how low your looking to go. I think your main obstacle will be the ocular and squishing your face low enough into whichever stock your using.

Another option, if you need cantilever might be to get a cantilever base like GSG'S (they have 2 types) or similar and just get the lowest rings that will suit your needs.

The Warne is very unique, but not for everyone. I'm assuming by getting as low as possible you are removing BUIS?? This mount incorporates 2 detachable 45 offsets for irons or a mini reflex. I posted a few things about the mount here- click here

Also compared it to the PEPR mount, if your hands on familiar with it might be useful to look at. click here

Good luck with your setup-

Re: Lowest Cantilever mount for AR

Very helpful Bob. Looks like the Warne will probably be the way I go. Looks Low enough for a good cheek weld and affordable too.

Thanks,

John
