Hey guys,
I am new to the forum and bolt action rifles, but got the bug to shoot bolt a couple months ago and I have since bought a 700 sps varmint .308 as a starting point for my build. I am still waiting for parts so unable to shoot my own rifle; however, I borrowed a buddies, 700 target tactical with a night force 4.5-15 scope on it. I worked up some loads for my rifle (I am new to reloading as well but having fun with it) and shoot those today with my biddies rifle. Big thanks to guys in this forum that have given advise on loads, got the right load. I loaded up 175 gr. SMK with 45 gr. of Varget, awesome!!!!!!

Here is the result at 100 yards:

Wow my first time really trying to shoot a sub MOA three shoot group:

I am really hooked now! I cant wait to get my rifle out there and shoot better than this, I know that is going to hard to do...

Re: Good day at the range!

THanks guys, it was so much fun out there today, I am excited to get my rifle together!

Re: Good day at the range!

Nice shooting! How do you like the Nightforce i recently got one and havent been able to take it out yet?

Re: Good day at the range!

The nightforce scope is really nice! The one on my buddies rifle is a little older, the only downside is that the elevation knob on his does not have revolutions marks to let you know how many time you have gone up. I lost count while at the range because my buddy was talking to me and I had to start over, a little annoying, but really nice glass. I bought a Leupold 6.5-20X50MM FFP TMR M5 turrets. love the idea of an FFP, check it out as well, takes all the math out of trying to figure out how many click to adjust. enjoy the new scope!

Re: Good day at the range!

That one amazing load for my rifle, later this month I will head out to the big 1000 yard range and let you know how it does. Happy shooting.

Re: Good day at the range!

I have a remy 700 sps varmint too
After load development I arrived at:
178 AMAX
45.0 gr Varget
Fed 210 Primers
O.A.L. 2.815"

I actually have the exact same group size as what you shot above.
.39" for three shot groups and .50 for five shot groups

Good Luck.

Re: Good day at the range!

Thanks I will have to try that combo as well. Have you taken that round out farther, how does it do at long yards?
