Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Some of you saw this little beauty in some of our photos from the Bushnell Writers Event in September. Now I can let a little more out about it:

IMG_5175_1080.jpg

I give you the Bushnell Elite Tactical 8-40x60mm Spotting Scope with H32 reticle.

IMG_5110_zpsfcbfa5fd.jpg

This was designed from the ground up as a tactical spotting scope. It's not a bird watcher or game spotter. It's designed specifically to assist skilled professionals in putting lead on target.

Quick features are, turn down eye cup, H32 reticle, optional picatinny rails for laser designators or clip on NODS as well as a 1/4-20 threaded insert for tripod mounting.

Read the details here!!

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Looks like a real tool for the spotter.
Do you have any idea what would be the price range?

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Damn, that looks like it is very well designed and thought out! How does the FOV and focus compair with other quality spotters? Where is the focus located, behind the magnification ring? It will be nice to be able to mount a LRF to cowitness with the spotter. Are they going to offer any other reticles?

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

I'm sure they'll jack the price waaay up there because of the obvious demand.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

WOW, I've been in the market for a spotter and now that I read this, I know what it will be.

The FOV seemed fine. I don't have any numbers yet. The focus is located behind the mag ring. No info on any other reticles (or if they will be available) yet.

The price will be greater because of what you are getting. This isn't a "kit" spotter that you get with a bubble pack rifle scope. This is the business. It was designed specifically to go to war. You have to pay for the quality and durability.

I would be very happy if they could make this thing for $500. But that isn't going to happen. Expect around two grand. There isn't anything that I have seen that can touch the feature set right now and they seemed eager to improve it with the input we gave them. I am very anxious to see the final production model and see what changes were made.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Does it come with a Mil reticle and hash-marks?

Read the fine print. I was trying to make a funny. That photo is actually the spotters little brother, the Legend Ultra-HD 10x. Which is a pretty badass little monocular.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Any idea how long it the unit compared to à Leupold?
Thanks

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Please let there be another reticle option other than the H32 - as in, something other than a Horus reticle.. something similar to the vortex milling reticle would make this package the duck's nuts.

I like the way you think....

It was mentioned. In fact I think I mentioned a G2DMR reticle would even work well.

Without the front rail, it's a very compact package. I don't have any actual numbers and I didn't have a tape measure when we were fondling it.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

This just in.

The MSRP on the non-railed, no-reticle version will be $1699.99. The H32 reticle version without rails will be $2199.99. No word yet on the railed/reticle version. Also no idea what the street price will be.

Wow. Good luck to Bushnell on that.

They can keep it.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

I think Bushy have hit a home run with this , my take is its close to a Zeiss Spotter60 at less than 1/2 the price , they will have a hard time keeping it in stock .

I would like a mil reticle other than the H32 , so it can be had at a cheaper price point over the expensive Horus model .

If they offer it with a mil hashmark ( 1/2 mil etc ) , and maybe a moa version , then they would have sewn up the market completely , just please make the end caps big and durable , not like the zeiss jobbies .

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Awesome stuff. Have they given an expected release date?

And any word on an angled eyepice?

I firmly agree on the ret issues,...if the glass is half decent then it will sell in bundles, but lets not fool ourselves into believing that its in the same league as zeiss glass!

If the retail is $2K then the production cost is probably well under $1k ex-factory , China.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

I imagine this will be made in Japan like other Bushnell ET optics.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

I can't believe that I waited 2 years to buy a tactical spotting scope.....I pulled the trigger on a Vortex RazorHD with MRAD reticle. I have not even paid the credit card bill yet.

Now Bushnell come out with this.

Somehow I am always chasing rainbows.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

In short I see the new Bushy as offering US an alternate to the Zeiss Spotter60/45 , where at the moment Zeiss has the whole high end sewn up .

I actually wanted Zeiss to make either the Finndot or version of it , for their normal spotters , which would have given them a product at 1/2 the price of the Spotter60 , so guys with a smaller amount to spend still had an option , they did not , And I have always said they should have a better reticle than the mildot " L " , I would have been happy with the dots going and being replaced with hashmarks , and also 1/2 mil hashmarks etc , they did not , and as Murphy dictates , as soon as I finally drop maney on a Zeiss they offer new stuff .

I'll buy it off ya! I'm not far from Lbk either

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Scope looks very interesting- but is reticle just as original H32? It doesn't work in my 12-40 Leypy at all. Might be better with lighter line thickness.

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Anybody know if we will be lucky enough to have a GB on these? I know the track record is good with Bushnell and their HDMR and the 4.5-30 having pre-release group buys........

I'm in for one if there will be!!!

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Perhaps my ignorance is showing but can someone tell me the purpose of the extended rail on the bottom? I can understand the one on top but am baffled by the lower one.
I learn something new every day so here's another chance.

Thanks,

LoneWolf,

How would you compare the glass as far as clarity and resolution between this Bushnell and a Razor HD or Mark 4?

Thanks

Re: Something special from Bushnell Tactical (spotter)

Awesome. Another spotter priced out of my range. I was really hoping someone else would come out with a decent spotter with a reticle that cost over $2 grand. Not enough of those.

You'll be very happy with that spotter.

Has anyone had a chance to get behind on go those 10x monoculars pictured with Frank above.

I have one, and it is a very decent product. Very clear, and at a great price point.

Do you have a picture of the reticle for the monocular? I can't seem to find one on Bushnell's site.

Is this it?

Also, I see there is a rail on the bottom, but is there also a thread for attaching to a tripod?

Yes, that is the same reticle that is inside mine. It does have a 1/4" threaded hole recessed into the rail, but my Manfrotto plates' studs are not long enough to engage the threads.

Will the rails be steel or aluminum?Wanting to mount a plrf 10c on top and if steel i would be courious if it would mess with the compass.

H32 version

Only had it a few days but so far very nice glass, controls feel solid, eye box/relief is forgiving and consistent. Will try and get side by side test with Mark4 but can already tell I like the focus/pwr rings better on the LMSS.

If you do not mind me asking, where did you purchase from and what was the price?
