I dont know if its all the spy assasian movies ive watched as a kid but i always wanted a take down breifcase rifle. Dont need just want it, i think its cool. Hs precision makes some on the higher end. Any other brands i need to know about. Pros and cons?

Are they accurate do they keep a zero or every time you assemble them do you have to zero again. The hs ones ive seen the scope stays attached. For that kind of cash i could get a great normal rifle

Re: Hs precision take down rifles and other take downs

The dealer I got my suppressor from had one of the Nemesis Arms. I checked it out. It was cool but really heavy for what it was. He had it in a back pack/case thing and over all it had that "cool" factor to it. Ergonomics of it felt weird to me though.

Save your money on the nemesis vanquish. That is a nightmare rifle.

And if anyone would like to know about my comment on the vanquish... here goes...
--quantity of 3 mags at $75 ea. Won't feed period
--bullet in .308 would not chamber, stuck out of the barrel 3/4" with barrel removed. Bolt stuck back 3/4" because the bullet wouldn't go forward.
--sent to Dave at Nemesis and he not only put savage parts on my bolt he sanded down the receiver (where it screws on-and it's 50 thousandths out from one side to the other) after cutting the barrel to short. Thanks Dave, now my gun won't be able to accept any other barrels you sell, but you would know that if you could reply to some of my e-mails.
--obviously not a machinists because there are so many "chatter" marks in my barrel that every time I put a piece of lapua brass in it and shoot, since it finally will shoot, it carves the brass up so bad with cut marks that I have to fight the bolt to get the damn thing to eject.
--it shoots about 1.5 MOA and that is impressive considering the shape it is in. My desert tactical SRS shoots a consistent .217 with the 175 bergers/44gr varget/210gm/lap brass/col 2.892
--BTW, SSGTactical in Virginia wouldn't give me a refund either. They also gave me the cold shoulder. I guess they thought that was ok since I don't live close enough to actually talk to them face to face. Doug tells me that every Nemesis they got was shit, and Dave at Nemesis said it was because Doug swapped barrels on the guns he sent him? Aren't they supposed to be able to do that (swap barrels) not that I think He did?

If you want a serious rifle do some serious research. I thought I did, but I got burned. The folks at nemesis makes very convincing YouTube videos, but bottom line is that rifle sucks. Think about it, obviously this could have been avoided with a simple test fire before it left the manufacturer. That is something they do not do, and I am not the only person that has experienced this. I found several except it was after my purchase. My only hope now is to send it to a real smith and get it fixed. However, if you actually had to use it whether on a bench or a real world situation, you would find out that it's just not ergonomically sound for serious shooting. Also, that wonderful bipod is not so wonderful in real life unless you like your gun flopping around when you shoot it (you can tighten it up with a pair of pliers and it wouldn't help). The manufacturer will tell you that they have been deployed to war??? Well, then if that is true, I would like to know what war because it's not a U.S. War. I wouldn't take that gun to a dirt clod fight in a half acre garden.

I had the chance to shoot an h-s tactical take down in 308. and I was not too impressed especially for the price, while once together it did hold close to 1/2" groups at 100yrds, once dissembled and reassembled
we only got about an inch to a bit over on repeatability , there were a few "flyers" we couldn't explain

while its a good rifle to put into a brief case.....shooting for accuracy is another , unless someone else can chime in regarding the h-s with some better feed back (on the take downs), I wouldn't invest the money

I would prefer a shorter barreled rifle with a folding stock

I paid $ 1795 for my HS 308 TD. Ser. NO. 27 so that was a while ago.10 yrs. probably. It is very accurate and shoots to the mark every time, no matter how often it is TD'd. Liked it enough to get a 300 mag . It too is accurate and repeatable. Both have QD rings on picatinny bases.Heavy fluted barrels but ordinary hunter stocks. The 300 was a lot more $$ than the 308 and I think all are at $5K give or take now , so you'd have to really want one.If you have no patience, do not order one . Try Eric at Hendershot's. They have HS's on order all the time. I got my HS HTR 338LM shipped direct from HS through Eric in 3 days.

I have two H-S varmint take downs. One in 300 Win and one in 25-06. Both are very accurate and when when taken down and the re-assembled will return to within 1/2 MOA. That said for a hunting take down I like my Blaser R8's more.

this is more of what I was hoping to hear from an h-s , I was thinking it might have been just that rifle (at least the repeatable thing) as accuracy was on par (I was told this one was around 4500+)

hessian, is that with a rem action or the h-s action?, I know the stopped using the rem a while back
