I am planning a 3006 build and wondering which would be best. How well does the linear compensator reduce recoil? I know it reduces noise for the shooter and those around him but how does it handle recoil? This will be primarily a hunting rifle so all things considered what are your thoughts and recommendations?

Re: Muzzle Brake vs. Linear Compensator

A linear compensator was the device at the end of Marvin the Martian's Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator that controlled the muzzle rise when he shot at earth. NFA item.

..alright, I may have made that up for my own amusement. It worked.

Gimmick. </div></div>

+1. Doesn't do squat for recoil</div></div>

Sure it does.. It makes it worse!

Re: Muzzle Brake vs. Linear Compensator

I'll let Sir Issac handle this one:

Re: Muzzle Brake vs. Linear Compensator

To be linear and truly a compensator it should have some ports facing directly backwards too.
