I don't read much on this site about Zeis Conquest scopes. Is it because they aren't tactical oriented, or only have a 1-inch tube? Is the glass on par with Nightforce and Leupold? Are they overpriced?

I cannot afford a $3K Davari line of Zeis, but I can pay $1K for a Conquest. I already own one Leupold VX-3 LR 8.5-25X50 and one Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MOA.

I am looking for superb imaging and contrast. I will shoot at maximum 500-600 yards with a .308 and 300 yards with a .223.

The Zeis Conquest, 1-inch tube, has 45 MOA adjustment. Would that be enough for those distances if I put it on a 15MOA Leupold base?

My older eyes demand superior clarity and magnification; my retirement pay demands I be reasonable in cost.

As a Marine in Vietnam, I shot iron-sights at 40 yards. Times have changed indeed ... now I like paper and varmints at 100-500 yards. And they don't shoot back.

Re: Zeis Conquest question

I have a conquest 3-9 on my hunting gun and I've been spectacularly pleased with it for the price I paid. I actually like the glass in my conquest more than in my nightforce :-O

Re: Zeis Conquest question

I've never had a Nightforce or high end Leupold so I can't compare, but I do have a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 on a .223 bolt gun and I'm really impressed. My Nikon Monarch is close, but the Zeiss glass is definitely better.

If you can get a chance to get over to hammond you should come by the shop. We'll be at SHOT this week, but come on by next week and we can get you looking through some glass.

We've still got some conquest in stock and we've started receiving some of the new conquest HD5's. Come on by and check it out.

Re: Zeis Conquest question

I have a few Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40's. Fantastic glass. Bright. Sharp. Clear. I use them on my hunting rigs and 22LRs. They are awesome.

I'm very impressed with the glass in the Conquest and would highly recommend it.

Re: Zeis Conquest question

check out meopta-i believe a small upgrade to the conquest. the one i put on my grandson's 308 is very impressive. sport optics put me on to it and it was a great call.

Re: Zeis Conquest question

Zeiss conquest glass is the top of it's price class, in my opinion.

I have several Conquest scopes and will buy more when the need arises.
