My buddy is selling his Sig556 Swat, 5 Pmags, and 1000rds of Wolf 223 ammo. I was with him when he bought it about 5 years ago. And he has only come with me once to shoot it. I know its just been sitting in his closet this whole time. It even has Troy Industries flip up sights on it.

He wants $1500 for all of it. Should I jump all over this? I already have the Sig 556 standard, and its a solid gun.

Re: Is This a Deal

If you like the Sig, then that is an exceedingly AWESOME price in this market. Pre-craziness, the MSRP on the 556 SWAT was right around $1400 (give or take...not a too much less than that several years ago). Add to the equation 5 PMAGs at roughly $20/mag (non-gouging prices) and 1k rounds of ammo (albeit Wolf crap)...and you end up with a terrific price. If you put it on GunBroker or a like site right now, I shutter to imagine how much it would fetch (but it'd surely be one hell of a lot more than $1500 in my estimation).

Re: Is This a Deal

My personal 556 hasnt let me down. it seems to shoot well, and I havent had any malfunctions with it. Im not real sure why most people chose the AR over the 556. There isnt much 556 love out there. Ive been holding back some funds incase an AR popped up. But this 556 Swat popped up first. Im just wondering if I should pass, and keep waiting for a flat top AR.

Re: Is This a Deal

FWIW - I'd jump on it if you're looking for a AR type rifle and don't already have one.

Re: Is This a Deal

Buy it at that price, if you don't want it, list it on Gunbroker and you can probably double your money.

Re: Is This a Deal

I'd say its a good deal. Especially the way everything is right now. And like other have stated. You don't like you can easily sell it and not lose out on anything.

Re: Is This a Deal

Any opinions on long term reliability? Accuracy? I have only 3-400rds through the one I already have, and havent seen any issues. But maybe someone with more experience can point out some comparisons between the Sig and say, an standard DI AR15.

Re: Is This a Deal

Good deal, with that setup. The stock is 200 something it's a Magpul (forgot the model) but easily one of they're best stocks.

Re: Is This a Deal

Sounds like a good deal ,show him $1400.00 in cash and see if he goe's for it. If not at least you tried and with the ammo $1500.00 ain't bad . I would dump the wolf ammo ,I don' like steel cased ammo in an AR. If your asking about accuracy , Wolf = Shit . Sell the Wolf for $300.00 and your in it right .

Re: Is This a Deal

Sounds like a solid deal to me, you can't go wrong with a Sig. I'd even entertain a discussion on a trade if you're looking for something different.

Re: Is This a Deal

Well I'm with everyone else, sounds like a hell of a deal. As far as why more AR love than Sig I think it has to do with ergonomics. Personally my Sig runs like the proverbial swiss watch but I have problems reaching the safety and I'm a big guy with big hands. Once I pick up the extended version I'm sure it will be a toss up on which one I grab.

Re: Is This a Deal

It's a good price. If he is a good friend don't negotiate the price, but don't make a quick turn for profit. If you don't want it point him in the right direction.

This is excellent advice.

Re: Is This a Deal

It's a good deal esp since you know the rifle's history I would jump on it before he changes his mind

Re: Is This a Deal

You could always try too trade it for a nice AR if one pops up after buying this. That's a great deal, not sure I would be able too pass on that myself.

Re: Is This a Deal

Given you know the buyer and weapon's history, BUY IT!

Re: Is This a Deal

Yeah he is my buddy. I bought my Sig556 standard and he bought the Swat, at the same time. I was going to teach him to shoot, but he ended up deployed with a MASH unit, and his gun ended up sitting. Now he has a toddler, and wants it out of the house. I know its pristine. I told him he could sell it for a huge mark up if he wanted, but he was more interested in selling it to me for what he paid for it (prob cause we are close friends).

I like the full length rails on it compared to my standard. I think Ill probably take it off his hands. I was unaware that the wolf ammo was steel cased.

Is anyone running a 556 in 3 gun comps?

Re: Is This a Deal

Jump on it! And if you need to sell it to make some quick dollars im sure you will be able to make a profit

Re: Is This a Deal

WTF...Please tell us you already got the Dam Thing!!! This shouldn't even be a Question at this Point!!!!

Re: Is This a Deal

You'd be retarded if you passed on it. BUY IT!! I was in a gun store yesterday in Pahrump, NV and on the wall were 3 DPMS AR-15's on consignment for $2200 each.

Sig vs. DPMS = SIG

Re: Is This a Deal

Most folks start out high expecting a snide, asking politely for a discount can't hurt. flipping it for a quick profit would be low though. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: macman2564</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: John L</div><div class="ubbcode-body">It's a good price. Re: Is This a Deal

Yea, snatch that up. I dunno if prices will return to where they were. You know the history on the rifle so it's a no brainier.
