There are 3 sequences in this one video:
1st sequence he catches half a dozen fish in one strike.
2nd sequence he plunges talons into deep water right to the bottom to grab his prey.
3rd sequence he captures a big old fat fish that looks as if it weighs more than he does!
First time I've ever seen a bird shake off water like a dog

Beautiful, thanks for posting. that last one was the epitimy
of "Intent".

Re: Osprey video-pretty neat

It couldnt have been faked but it seems staged, in order to have the camera in exactly the right place to show him grabbing the fish underwater. I wonder if its a captive bird he raised nd works with.

Re: Osprey video-pretty neat

That was bad a$$. Took him a little effort to get that big fish outa the water.

Just watched it again and caught the 'dog shake' thing as he was flying. That was cool!

Re: Osprey video-pretty neat

We see a bunch of the in coastal NC. They are studly and build some huge nests on old trees and ICW markers. Never seen a bird flounder gigging!

Re: Osprey video-pretty neat

I hear what you're saying Maggot, but wildlife photographers 'could' also have multiple cameras, at the same time. That area could very well be a regular 'feeding ground' that he/they set up for.

Either way, how often do we as humans ever get a chance to see the underwater view of a birdstrike? Or the actual aerial view of "talon extension" or whatever that's called? And everything in between. Especially that "shaking the water off, in flight".

That was me, I'd probably do an Immellman right before flying into a damn tree.

I wasn't expecting to see the head shake then go thru the whole body/wings like that....very cool.

Re: Osprey video-pretty neat

Awesome indeed! Thanks for the link to that, Derek.

I have to admit that when I first clicked on this thread, I was actually expecting to see a video on the V-22 (or MV-22), but that was FAR BETTER!!
