I just order 100 pieces of Lapua brass and got it a few days ago so I decided to start loading it tonight. I opened the box and started to take measurements and right off the bat I noticed the measurements jumped from peice to peice. So I decided to lube some of it up and start to size it 11 out of 20 wouldnt even fit in the shell holder. Normally I would question my shell holder but i've loaded 20 rounds of HSM brass that I shot last month. I'm kind of pissed due to the fact I spent good $$$ to get a nice product. Am I dueing something wrong before I call were I ordered the brass on monday or is it just bad brass?

My guess is that you got a bad batch of brass from Lapua, which is surprising coming from them.
Just as a side question, what shell holder are you using?

Im using a Lyman shell holder I was going to pick up a new shell holder tomorrow. Just because I'm shocked that its a bad batch coming from lapua. I'm also major bummed I really wanted to go shooting this weekend.

Ya, might be a good idea to pick a new one up just to make sure, what caliber is it? if its for .338 RCBS shellholder #48 is what RCBS recommends. not sure on other calibers though.
If it still doesn't fit, call the place you ordered the brass from.

That is what as was wondering last night as I went to bed I read some were in my manual that U.S.A made brass and forien are differant at times. So I guess it would make sence if a new shell holder would work.

This is an old problem going back six, seven years and having to do with the extractor groove dimensions.
There are two different dimensions and depending on what brand of brass you're using, you have to have the appropriate shellholder.
Using a Dillon 550b, this isn't a problem for me, when loading up Lapua and Norma sourced brass.

Well though that I would give you all an update got a #14 shell holder and it works great now I'm off and loading.

Just to add for any future searches the Hornady #43 shell holder also works well with Lapua brass as well.

#14 rcbs is not the one reccomended as per rcbs tech. Its #48.. i had problems with my lapua brass with #14.. talked to them and they said i had to switch to the #48.. they just sent me 2... no cost.. it was cool!! Lapua brass is very tight it didnt even work in a hornady shellholder.. try rcbs.. u can always call lapua they will honor their brass!!

Wow, Must be a lot to lot variation or something. The box of Lapua that I have be using fit with no issues at all in the Hornady shell holder.
