Check out this new product. Works great on a .223/5.56 and and .308/7.62 gas gun systems.
This is a new rifle mount I have used successfully in static positions to deploy a sniper rifle with a picatinny mount on the bottom of the rifle, or a gas gun with a railed forearm (on the bottom). It is manufactured by KZ in the USA out of high-quality aluminum. The attention to detail on it's machining is very impressive and the functions and ease of use is very welcome for LE applications in an urban environment (and possibly military applications). It is lightweight compared to KZ's older mounts which I have used successfully on urban operations...the product is advancing with regard to feedback received from snipers using it and is loosing weight and size as well.

The KZ Precision Rifle Pod is designed to be used on a manfrotto-type tripod to support the rifle. I have used it with both 190 and 055 models of manfrotto tripods. KZ's attempt to reduce weight and size has been impressive in the past few years since I was introduced to their sniper rifle products.

The picatinny mount adapter is permanently mounted to the top of the ball and socket mount of the KZ PRP to quickly mount the rifle (with a bottom mounted pica tinny mount) to the KZ PRP via a very simple adjustable throw lever which both secures and removes the rifle from the KZ PRP mount.

Once the rifle is mounted, due to the picatinny mount, the rifle can be used quickly to address the threats where the tripod and the mount are setup. These threats can be fairly static like a stationlary vehicle or exit door, but the prp also allows dynamic movement within the area of operations as well.

This one is made out of high quality aluminum, which is anodized black. It seperaterates at it's base so that the two locking screws, which are designed to firmly attach the base to the manfrotto screw base of the tripod, will secure it to the tripod. After securing the base to the tripod with two Allen wrench screws the operator will screw down the top of the mount, which includes a polymer seat for the aluminum ball, which then attaches to and controls the upper ball socket which is machined into the quick detach picatinny mount.
